A Political Thread pt. 2

It really is a different set of rules once you reach a certain point. I have to fight tooth and nail for any tiny little pay rise whilst these people expect stupid salaries and even more stupid bonuses for simply doing their job badly.
Know your role and shut your mouth peasant.

I remember one of our flowdown goals of the year was 95% fidelity on milestones. Now the Vice President who has that goal has hundreds underneath him so can afford some misses. As a team we're "lucky" 10 in a year so you can't miss one. If your are a low priority program it become even harder because your constantly battling for success when higher priority programs fail.

Basically execs get far easier goals to meet than the bottom but make it look the same.

Absolutely. In accountancy firms you work for partners who measure their goals in terms of Work in progress known as WIP, as measured in hours spent on a task be it a set of accounts, tax return or advice/report by different staff depending on their charge out rate. Each partner will have parameters to write off the time when it comes to billing that time to clients but they never disclose to below apart from their manager who bills the time. One partner could accept 20% write off and recover 80% , but another will not consider any write off unless work is duplicated or mistakes made.

All kicking off in Paris. Personally I hate how they refer to these people as protesters, they aren't, they are rioters, looters and vandals. In no way it's rampant destruction and theft against innocent parties a form of protest.

Don't you dare ask for a pay rise (unless you're a shareholder, of course)

It seems like with what is happening to Trump, Carlson, Fox and the Republicans in the USA, and Sunak, Farage, Johnson, Brexiteers and the Tories here, at long long last the decade of far right lies and corruption are finally beginning to face at least a modicum of accountability for all the damage they have inflicted on the developed world with their cults. Not as much as they should but better than nothing.

Still crying foul conspiracies of course, because at no point are the consequences of their actions ever their fault.

Cleared to work for Labour, but according to our clearly unbiased and neutral government she has broke the civil service rules. I'm sure she will be punished (though I don't think there is much they can do) in the same way Tory ministers are when they break the ministerial code.

Has everyone seen news that concerts of Mylene Farmer were cancelled today and tomorrow in Paris? If something, I'm here and spent three days to be in the first row in fanzone during those concerts (I'm her fan for 22 years so far). They even interviewed us fans how do we feel about it,so you will probably see me crying in news (I've heard they show it all in UK news as well). And only during concerts 2019 I gave an interview to the same channel how great that I'm her fan and how great to visit her concerts... can't believe it all happens today in Paris. I've heard "fireworks" during a couple of nights near the area I live (they are burning cars with fireworks)

The King of the Netherlands has formally apologised for his country's role in the slave trade, saying he felt "personally and intensely" affected.

The country became a major colonial power after the 17th Century, holding territories across the globe, and Dutch slave traders trafficked more than 600,000 people.

Thoughts on slave reparations?

*Stupid comparison from above

This is absolutely disgusting and news stories have got to stop calling these people "protestors", like **** are they protesting anything. These are violent criminals, rioters and vandals. These are scum of the Earth looking for any excuse to inflict suffering on others and to steal and destroy. How can any sane individual think the appropriate way to protest and one-off case of violence against an individual is mass, indiscriminate violence and looting against the population as a whole?

It is worrying how many people are ready to immediately turn to extreme violence at the slightest provocation.

For me many existing European countries, families and individuals benefited hugely from slavery. On top colonialism has still left many parts of the world impoverished and the western world (other too) continue to exploit that wealth gap. Issue is that it's almost impossible to correct in terms of money. How can you calculate the cost of what these countries and people lost? Also let's say Britain decided to pay reparations. This would come from tax payers money and while Britain as a nation will have benefited from slavery and colonialism many are so impoverished themselves that they cannot afford the reparations. Meanwhile the wealthy people of the country, especially those with historical wealth will likely not pay or pay less than they should. Even then, if an amount was agreed, it still would not fix the inequalities between developed nations and developing nations.

Can't we just sell the Royal family to pay for it? 🤔. I hear USA would buy them. 😜
