A Political Thread pt. 2

Somewhere outside Saffron Walden there's an uncle who's seven feet tall with no chin and an Adam's Apple that makes him look as though he's constantly trying to swallow a ballcock.

I actually legitimately 100% find all the celebrations and ceremonies for the king and the queens funeral offensive as **** but I wouldn't want people celebrating it to be arrested. Seems weird how the offence only seems to go one way.
I despise the guy but Jordan Peterson did make one valid point on a new interview:

Sacked for showing naked statues to children? Surely that didn't happen in America?

I find it so weird how culturally so many Americans have so little problem with mass violence, both in media and in reality, but get themselves all tied up in knots over nudity and swearing.

I imagine the majority of the children place adult games. GTA especially is a great example.

The problem is it's another example of a problematic difference between the left and the right. The right are far more into 'cancel culture' than the left, but they are able to get away with it far more easily. I don't know why, but the right has always been able to get away with more than the left. Possibly because the left is often about change and the right is about preserving the past.

The right wing media in America always seems a couple of moves ahead of the left. Religion plays a part too. The states is far more religious than the rest of the Western world

Not convinced either side is better tbh. The trans debate over sports and womens rights being one example. Using gaming as the example the vitriol and stance taken by some over Hogwarts Legacy was pretty spectacular. If i recall there was a pretty harsh outcry over GTA at first. In 2021 you had Illinois Republicans still trying to ban GTA V.
I think the right or center right appear to get away with more because more often than not they are the one's people put in power. Any country dominated by religion has issues with one or more of the following, homosexuality, trans issues abortion rights, womens rights etc.

What vitoral? Some people refused to buy the game to not support a TERF who perpetually and cinsistently targets trans people online. (I've long gotten part the fact that anyone who suggests JK Rowling isn't transphoboc is clearly being very selectictive in what they are paying attention to).

It was all pretty weak sauce stuff, no organised review bombing or death threats to creators.

Unless you're saying you can't suggest prople take a moral stance over things anymore and tell other people why in a calm way.
