A Political Thread pt. 2

My only hope is that the rising distain for the monarchy amongst young people and the increasing indifference amongst older generations will hopefully lead to a shift in opinion in about 15 years. Older generations dying off will help as well. I won't hold my breath though.

What would also help is Charles being **** and the whole Meghan, Will, Harry, Kate circus dragging on and ******* people off.

The pomp and ceremony we do so well actually makes me sick. Especially in these times of cost of living and rising prices and we're meant to foot the bill for these *****. Nah. **** that ****.

Yeah maybe a couple of honey traps for Randy Andy would also help accelerate their demise. An all expenses paid massage parlour crawl around Soho to kick things off.

People in America get offended about drag queens reading stories to kids so I'm not sure they are a great example of free speech.

For me freedom of speech is fine but like all freedoms is doesn't mean freedom of consequence. Israel Folau has the freedom to post bible thumping nonsense but people who pay his sponsorship money have then a right not to continue to pay him.

If you use threatening and abusive language directly at someone then there is already a law against threatening and abusive behaviour that's knob all to with freedom of speech.

If someone is banned from Twitter for saying something then that's up to Twitter. They are a private company and you sign up to follow their rules.

I'm not getting the whole I'm repressed, freedom of speech thing and tend to find people hide behind it online because they are dicks.
America is a great example. You say theyre getting offended at drag queens and such, sure, but the whole point is they don't have laws that can have people on either side arrested for expressing a potentially offensive view.

Folau is not a good example as I'm talking on the state/ government/police level. Private business/employers can do what they like.

I'm not necessarily against abusive language on immutable characteristics being protected to some degree as more often than not it leads to violence but religion can most definitely **** off out of that category. How that can be considered the same as race, sexuality and disability I have no idea

Are you in favour of having people arrested under section 5 for swearing g because people can find it offensive?

Also how is using abusive language like say "what the **** are you doing you ******* prick" got nothing g to do with free speech? Wounding it just be better to make swearing or any kind of language people could potentially find offensive illegal?

If the republicans get their way it absolutely will be a law and at the minute armed idiots stand outside venues threatening people.

Any examples of people being arrested for critising religion? Genuine question

Having to add this because you edited. Everything depends on contents. If someone said "what the **** are you doing you ******* prick" to say someone cutting in at a petrol pump then no of course not and don't know of any examples of when people have been arrested for it. If someone was drunk, in a public place right up in someone's face screaming it then that's disturbing the peace, drunken and threatening behaviour that will get you arrested

How much you want to bet that America re writes its constitution and starts arresting people for expressing opinions?

There were over 6,300 reported religious motivated hate crimes in the year ending in March 2021

How is it any different. Is it the alcohol. Both are disturbing the peace.

Hate crimes? That's not criticism. I could write the following: All religion is a bag of ********, Islam in particular is the worst it's just the ramblings of a peodophile call Mohammed.

Waiting to be arrested....

They will use child protection laws in the same way the word Gay cannot be used in Florida schools to mean a relationship between 2 people of the same sex

Again it's context but you know that. If you can give me any particular examples where someone was arrested just for swearing and nothing else then fine crack on
I already gave one. One guy was arrested and convicted after being stopped by police for a drug search and he said I haven't ******* got anything on me this is a ******* joke" or something like that and when the search turned up nothing he said see I ******* told you I had nothing and he was arrested under section 5. Magistrate upheld it and was later overturned only for the reason that they couldn't prove the policeman were offended. It happens all the time mate.

Go into your town Center with a megaphone and see how you get on. He he.

So he was arrested and the conviction was overturned? That's kind of proving that freedom of speech is being protected but yeah not a good look the police using section 5 for that

But I will add..try standing outside a church in Alabama with a megaphone saying jesus spends his time in heaven having a 3 way with Freddie Mercury and George Michael and see how long you last
I'd last forever. The police wouldn't arrest me. I might get killed by someone but that's a separate issue.

"If I was in charge of this coronation, I'd arrest all the heads of all those people that would be protesting. I would put them all in jail like pre coronation and then release them after."
