A Political Thread pt. 2

It really annoys me when Tories claim that Johnson was stabbed in the back by the likes of Sunak. He was partying during lockdowns and brought a shameful culture to the office of No.10 with the Owen Paterson and Chris Pincher scandals not to mention everything else. The Tories who brought him down by resigning are only guilty of not doing it earlier and they only did it because the fat twat refused to leave.

Reality is he'll get a bounce in the polls because he's not Truss but I can't see how another Johnson premiership doesn't end in flames. Tory MP's already saying they'd resign the whip if he was made leader.

Channel4 also trolling brilliantly.

It's just ludicrous that Johnson could return so soon given the reasons why he resigned and especially as there are on-going investigations and enquiries into his conduct. He shouldn't be allowed to return to front line politics until he has cleared his name.

Listening to Nicky Campbell this morning. The amount of Conservative party members backing Borris is scary. If it goes to a run off between Borris and another, I really think Borris could win. The Mp's on seem absolutely scared still of the prospect of putting Borris to the members. Even they think he'll win and then it's game over.

It is scary. I don't think Sunak or Mordaunt will commit to running unless they have confidence that Boris won't make the final two because they know Tory members will back him.

I see that Rees Mogg has just tweeted that he's backing Boris which might indicate that he's likely to run otherwise why throw his weight behind him. This could also torpedo Braverman's hopes of running as she would have been reliant on Rees Mogg and his right wing *****.

JRM and Dorries were the first prominent people who backed Truss everyone should look at their endorsement and run for the hills.

Although I think Dorries/Mogg don't really can't the weight of the ERG they once did and a more a different group of Johnsonites these days. I don't really know who has the real weight in that group it use to be Baker but now who knows.

I don't think Dorries carries much influence (she's just a Boris fangirl) but I think Mogg has more unfortunately. His last two picks have turned out to be failures and so hopefully his influence is waning. We all know what Steve Baker is as outlined by the C4 journo.

If Sunak does become PM his biggest challenge (besides dealing with the economy) will be how he deals with Mogg and the right wing of the party as they will inevitably try to take him down. The country so needs an election to get rid of this shower.

4 things need to happen:
1) The Tories need to be consigned to the wilderness for at least a decade. The way they have mismanaged this is well beyond the pale. They have ****** up everything they have touched and have shown themselves to not only be incompetent but actually malicious. Their complete disregard for any sense of honour, decency or integrity if ******* sickening.
2) The right wing needs another party. Part of the reason the Tories get away with this **** literally every single ******* time there is a Tory government is because they know a sizeable chunk of the country will vote for them no matter how depraved and scandal ridden the party is. They could drop a nuke on every major city and still have some ***** who would vote for them. There is no fear whatsoever of people shifting their vote to another party because there is no other right wing party.
3) We need a PR system now. FPTP has allowed this absolute shitstorm to happen and continue. In a proportional system it would be much harder
4) The ministerial code needs a re-write without any MPs or people in government having a say. They have shown very clearly that they cannot be trusted to write their own rules or enforce their own rules. They need to be treated like children and have those responsibilities taken away from them. Johnson and Truss have shown there are no checks or balances at all and a party with a big enough majority and no integrity can ride roughshod over the country for 5 years.

I used to dislike the Tory party as I disagreed with the politics. I now despise them because they are showing themselves to be absolute *****.

5) Government ministers cannot profit from inside information and need to be subject to 'insider trading' type rules. They should be subject to audit and criminal investigation where necessary.
6) There needs to be governance around Government's handing out of contracts i.e. no conflict of interest (no handing out contracts to family, neighbours or associates etc).
7) It needs to be written into law (not convention) that any PM who breaks the law or breaches the ministerial code must result in a resignation or dismissal.
8) Stronger governance around election/referendum campaigning i.e. no printing lies on the sides of buses and anyone found to lie or spread misinformation gets banned from politics.

It's amazing yesterday I had to do Business Code of Conduct training which anyone who's worked for large US firms with governement knows will have done. Your flat out not allowed to do any of this otherwise its gross misconduct.

The issue with governments contracts in the USA is more about keeping contarcts within their districts than backhanded. But its mad we don't have the same laws.

Lobby groups trying to change the law is a completely different matter.

Oooh look, tory's favourite fake-fear - voter fraud

Well he just destroyed his reputation for me.

Why Johnson is a terrible choice.

TBF in this case it's fraud purely within their own party. I'd genuinely like to know the proportion of Tory party members who voted in the last leadership election who are not British citizens. That sort of info should be public.

Tbf that's not a surprise - Wallace was both Johnson's official and unofficial No10 Campaign manager all the way back in 2016 (and probably before)
