A Political Thread pt. 2

Wagatha Christie, I really don't go for celebrity gossip at all but its kinda exposed quite how horrific people in the sphere attack each other. Do wonder what the hell Vardy was thinking bringing the libel trial to court, either her lawyers were overpaid and badly advised her or she was stubbornly stupid, especially as Rooney offered to settle 4 times.

This is currently the main news headline on the BBC news app and website. I really wish media organisations would stop giving this sh1te airtime. Same goes for Megan and Harry gate.

At one point today this story was the main headline on the BBC news app. I really wish media organisations would stop giving this sh1te airtime. Same goes for Megan and Harry gate.
Yeah its definitely not main headline stuff virtually every other story on the main page is more newsworthy. Its interesting from the banality of celebrity gossip, internet privacy and libel but like I've probably read the original post, a bit during the trial and won't care beyond today if I read anymore on it.

TBH the whole letting developing countries pollute until they have done the same amount as the west is such a flawed argument for a multitude of reasons. It assume that everyone must follow an identical path of industrialisation yet I don't see them saying developing nations should have levels of pollution and contamination Victorian Britain had. There are other ways to modernise that do not require going through mass coal, oil and gas burning plants and heavy industry. It also ignores that the pollution the developed world did in the past was before we were aware of the global consequences (local pollution was known and ignored but that's another matter). It also ignores that the climate doesn't care where the GHGs come from, they are still going into the atmosphere whether they are from the developed or developing world.

The one thing I do agree with though is saying that developing nations need to reduce their consumptions whilst we don't, particularly the USA. I think it's fair for some parts of the world to consume more as many are living in abject poverty and we should consume much less to balance it out.
Agreed.

especially when you look and see that those that are most likely to die due to air pollution are those that are living in developing countries.

Like do we not want them to learn from our mistakes that cholera and black lung are bad things.

and yeah the us energy policy is beholden to coal and oil. Coalminers don't even want coal to continue to exist but the companies have big money.

And so much for Western sanctions having an effect on Putin and Russia. Just increases the oil and gas prices and sell more to China and India instead.

We're the party of law and order so long as it doesn't include policing us.

It's amazing how during the course of this leadership contest the Tories (or team Truss) are acting like they haven't been in power for 12 years. Openly criticising crime numbers and the state of the economy. It beggars belief.
Not just their party , but the candidates themselves.

Russia was always going to be sending more eastwards this year, so you can't really judge the effect of sanctions by comparing with previous years.

For gas especially the hard infrastructure dictates where it can be sold to. Supplies to China are independent of what happens with Europe.

Russia have been building a giant terminal in northern siberia for years (Yamal LNG), specifically to supply the Chinese Market, fed by separate fields from those that supply Europe.

I mean it's already worked twice with May and Johnson, the public seems to treat the Tory party under 1 leader as a wholly separate entity to the Tory party under a previous leader, even if the current leader was in the last government.

Genuinely seen Tory party supports claiming that ackshually the first few years were the coalition so the Tories have only been in power for 7 years, as if the coalition wasn't mostly Tory and mostly following Tory policies. I mean hell, the Tory policy to raise tuition fees is what sent the Lib Dems to the wilderness for years and by the end of the coalition, Lib Dems in cabinet had been getting replaced.

That's what I find so amazing, whereas the public seem to treat the current Labour party as no different to any of the previous ones, Corbyn, Blair and even the ones in the 60s and 70s

Fair play to the Pope who earlier gave an excellent and fulsome apology for an estimated 150,000 children taken away from their parents and an estimated 2,000-6,000 dying in church 'care'. The current Canadian government also has its head screwed on in accepting an internal independent reviews findings that this was genocide.

Hopefully the European based architects of such schemes follow suit, but I won't be holding my breath.

RUC/PSNI at it again it seems. Fuk all changes in never-never land.

Covering up for an informer, even if that informer was involved in the death of a 14 year old. (noah donohue)

... and new secretary of state in on it. Was them that signed the PII - basically allows the police to not have to produce evidence they are known to hold as its supposedly in the public interest
