A Political Thread pt. 2

Someone did suggest it in the BBC. I thought the rules stopped it.

If he's able to will he still have the grassroots support to win?

He'd need to get through to the final two in the parliamentary party to get to them. Apparently if he's resigned he can't take part but there's no evidence he actually has.

Honestly if he did though surely labour would just table a motion of no confidence and the conservative MPs would back it.

I'll go back to my previous statement, we need a written constitution.

Of course what worst is she behaved in the same manner on the way out as well.

Whole lot of back story apparently about online abuse, death threats.
I'm not a tory but I'd at least flip the finger at personal abuse.
The job you do is irrelevant, bullies need standing upto.
I work in public sector now and refuse to accept the personal abuse on a daily basis good on her.
I don't care I'm representing an organisation I gave up ************ long before my sixth year.
Others think any one who works in public service is a servant are sadly wrong and deserve the same abuse they dish out.

Absolutely, but indiscriminately throwing the finger to everyone there probably isn't the way forward.

These are protestors outside Downing Street not online abusers....she hasn't pointed to a direct personal attack on herself at the time that she was responding to....she wasn't under some kind of direct threat either and had a clear safe barrier between herself and them.

So yeah I can see how it would be justifiable just not in these particular circumstances.

I guess we all see things differently, personal attack in public v online abuse.
Flip the finger why not can I call you a C FW A B.and you don't react.
I'm not a supporter of the party but I don't think abuse should not be confronted.
I fully respect your stance however.

I'm really unsure how this counts as abuse or a justifiable reaction.

Just to be clear I entirely agree with you if a member of the crowd hurled a particularly vile comment at her it would be justifiable reaction. However she has just cited a baying mob and it clearly wasn't that.

Too many people are taking her terribly written twitter statement as fact despite numerous videos/eye witness accounts

And audio from the other incident she was involved with,

Typical Tory gaslighting from thisngovernment.

This campaign is going to one hell of a bloodletting with a Johnson story I'm more amazed we hadn't heard similar already.

Sound bites are fine ,I care not who next tory leader is not .Abuse by mob rule is something I care little of.
Who ever they elect or stands is a fool as next Parliament will hung so all parties get rid of leaders who can't deliver.
Then we see who is or not a leader.
Personally Boris was like many other leaders needed for a time ,but not a long term leader .
Sadly we have few of them.
But that I'd a totally another thread.
Know why I tend to stick out of political threads people take it far to personally and don't tend to see grey only black or white.

Sri Lankan PM offers resignation after protesters storm presidential residence

Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced he is willing to step down from office on Saturday, Reuters reports. The announcement comes hours after tens of thousands of protesters stormed President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's official residence in Colombo and set it on fire, forcing him to move to safety. Demonstrations across the country led to an imposed curfew as the economic crisis continues.

So more from pick a that...

Mordaunt is in but forgot about image rights

Attorney General Braverman has shown contempt for simple rule of law and the GFA

Hunt decided to torpedo his appeal to moderates

Shapps (well one of him) turned to not be entirely evil on trans rights

Penny Mordaunt,
Sajid Javid,
Jeremy Hunt,
Grant Shapps,
Nadhim Zahawi,
Kemi Badenoch,
Suella Braverman,
Tom Tugendhat,
Rishi Sunak

With the brains trust still to come (that's Patel & Truss)

Some real (useless) contenders in there all right.

Anyone fill me in on Tugendhat? I pretty much know enough about the others to know I want them nowhere near it.

Probably a Wallace lite candidate, probably better off looking at a big cabinet job like Defence than going for the big job this time around.

It's important to remember for most center and leftwards people most of these guy are horrible.
