[2021 Six Nations] Ireland vs France (14/02/21)

I do think Lancaster is more suited to the club game. Seems a really good man manager and develops players very well by seeing them on a daily basis and giving them opportunities when he can. Not a huge amount of scope for that in the international gig, it's results based to the extreme and I think he knows it himself.
I wouldn't mind seeing him back in the Eng set up but purely as a coach, not a manager or public mouthpiece. Working with / developing players is clearly his strength.....he'll get more of that at club level, but the international siren can be very seductive.

Obviously injuries have played a part but still not delighted with how that team turned out.

On the other hand, Craig Casey hype.

Clearly Ross isn't rated to start which raises the question of why he's in the squad to begin with.
To be fair Ross has failed in any games he has started. Agreed it has been tough fixtures but also BB is probably the better 10 of 2. Agreed though that the likes of Harry Byrne and Ben Healy should be in.

Well I've no issue with Ross not being rated as a starter. My issue is that since he isn't, he shouldn't be in the squad. It's not too much to ask to have your third choice 10 be someone who can come in if #1 gets injured and #2 has a mare unless they're a complete newbie in the Casey mold.

Oh look... Its the only man for the job.

So just to write it down and get the excuses in early:

Kilcoyne, Ryan, Doris, Murray, Sexton and Stockdale all missing through injury.

Not the worst injury list we've ever had but it's up there.

First time since 2011 neither Johnny or Murray start a 6n game. We've had a bit of bad luck at 10, one injury ridden lad and a ****** chode ruining his own career, but it's still very damning that we have B rate imports starting in their stead.

On Nucifora and Joe rather than Farrell to be fair.

I think this is a big game for France. Win in Dublin for the first time in a decade and they justify some of the ridiculous level of hype.

Personally, I fancy Ireland here.
Pundits love to trot out stats like this, but how relevant is it when games are being played behind closed doors?

Craig Casey to win us game. Some craic if we qin. Will cause alot to loose marbles
Maybe so, it looks like he will come in at some stage. I hope he does well he's one for the future for sure.

A lot of people saying we're gonna get beat up on Sunday. I don't see that happening to be honest.
France haven't won in Dublin in ten years. This irish side will be hurting from last weeks defeat. A lot of criticism thrown at them for the last 5 days.

A lot of guys with a point to prove either from the bench (ruddock/gibson-park) or people questioning the retaining of a position in this weeks team (herring/burns/earls).

I don't think andy farrells selections at 9 and 10 are the best Ireland have to offer, but he said this week that burns trained very well so we will see.

I'm optimistic and think our pack will be the key if we are to win this, we will have to be better than them up front and keep the ball to frustrate the french.

Scotland beat England last week because Scotland played moderately well and England were pish poor. I reckon Italy would have had a fair go at beating them last week.

The stats have been kicked around and question raised before last Saturday. My question stands.

Penalties and yellow cards stand out the most as they are directly decided by the ref. Equal for yellows without crowds and only a tenth difference in penalties awarded. Very telling.

To be fair at 9 and 10. Carty is probably the better 10 but isn't in squad but BB alot better than RB I feel at moment in Irosh shirt as Ross has struggled but may benefit coming off bench. At 9 again of what is in squad it better to end with Casey than start.

Well that fair issue. I think issue may have been they locked in camp
