[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 4: England vs Scotland (12/03/2017)

Daly isn't a full back. Watson has played full back a fair bit. So Watson.

2/10. Watson is a international winger. Rare. Full back - nope: Moderate, a liability at best.

Daly shouldn't even be an option

Faster than Watson.

Daly's fast but he's not Watson fast. May and Watson in a league of their own pace-wise.

EJ saying it's all about the next WC, I think everyone of the players in today's team will be there apart from maybe Cole and Brown? I think Brown especially, he's a great player, but can't help but think he's getting slightly laboured over the last couple of years, could we see players like Haley in the position by 2019?

Would be surprised if Haskell makes the next one and disappointed if Hartley does.

I was going to say you're mad for not thinking Haskell makes the next WC, but with Underhill on the horizon, who knows.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to blindside soon, and I also wouldn't be surprised to see him made captain when Hartley is dropped. I noticed today he went up to the ref whenever Hartley did. He was essentially the Assistant to the Captain out there.

Wasn't so long ago that most people viewed Hask as a complete liability. That worm has well and truly turned.

Brown is rock solid at 15. I just don't see what people have against him. Watson can't tackle and Daley can't catch. 9/10 (min) times when Brown runs the ball back, he puts England on the front foot. He covers more ground than any other England player. If I were a top notch winger and 10 yards short of the line, I would brush Watson aside. Not so with Brown.

I'll happily admit I've flip flopped on Hask several times.
I called for him to be captain post Robshaw, wanted him to be completely dropped from the EPS, and now I want him to be captain again. His form has been very up and down but when he's on he's a great backrower. Don't think he's an openside, still, but he's a very good rugby player and you can't question his commitment to the sport.

Not quite sure where you've gotten either of those ideas from. Watson's defence is perfectly fine and to say Daly can't catch is just wrong.

Yessir, but it's been a good, sensible while since he got himself a silly yellow for a colossal brainfart and/or found his face buried in blue padding instead of the tryline. It took a decade, but the boy's come good

A day i wish to forget in a hurry.

Even though i'll put my hands up and admit we were completely outplayed today by a England team looking like they've found they're form again. I was and still am annoyed with some off the referee's decisions today as i felt he didn't want to give us anything. Felt the sin bin from the first minute killed our game (though i felt he was lucky it wasn't a red).

Overall well played England congratulations to you back to back six nations ***le :)

On the flip side you can call it karma. Scotland have got away with murder at the breakdown against France and Wales and faced minimal punishment. All that happened this game is the ref actually started penalising your illegal play. On England's side, against Italy and Wales we faced 2 teams who frequently were doing illegal stuff and getting away with it. Also Scotland should have had a red for the Daly tackle and they ref was looking for any excuse to give Hughes a yellow. I think looking to give England a yellow the first chance he got and not giving a justified red tells a lot about who the ref wanted to penalise.

Scotland/Population

England/Population

England 1,990,988 registered players.

Scotland 38,500 registered players.

Truly David vs Goliath.

It's quite sad how much pleasure the English get from beating the wee man over and over.

Another funny stat, England have a 3rd of the registered players in the world. 1,990,988/4,504,188

Shame on them for being happy

Just a point on how the rucks are being refereed, I felt that at the start of the 6N's teams were getting too many turnovers and penalties for holding on by using the tackling player as support and stopping the ball being placed back quickly or by helping to pull them down and not clearly releasing. Wales and Scotland especially. It seems that the ref's are a bit wiser to it now, so personally Mathieu Raynal is getting some unfair criticism.
