[2015 Six Nations] Ireland vs England (Round 3)

I know right, who'll be laughing when Jonny Sexton knocks over a winning drop goal in Twickers in late October, William comes to Dublin and then we're pure donkey **** for 10 years?!

Jonny Sexton? Whose that? Some academy lad at Connacht or somewhere? Maybe I haven't heard of him because of the MAJESTIC LEGACY OF THE LAST INTERNATIONAL 10 WITH THAT NAME.

Is he any good?

All Irish look the same. *runs for cover*
In a pub the other day I was behind an irish bloke at the bar complaining that they didn't have a specific wine, whilst periodically complaining that his tea(dinner) was getting cold. He must have said tea(dinner) about 8 times. I wanted to strangle him.
Yeah, whats' wrong with Binny!?
I don't have a problem with Paul O Connell, and I really like Heaslip. In fact, out of all the players interviewed, its always the Irish who come across as the most eloquent and thoughtful...

I might say the same thing. The length and placement of Youngs' box-kicking is one of the big differences that got him back into this squad ahead of Care. He's been an acknowledged good kicker for a good year or so.

The criticism of Youngs' technical skills has become massively hyperbolic and a perpetuating myth for my money.

The kicking? Perhaps
The passing is a real issue for me; If I get round to it, I'll make gifs for all the times a pass from Youngs to Ford checked the latters positioning and put the fluidity of the backline out by an important 15% against Italy. Not terrible passess on this occasion, but ones which made him reach which taking a half step backwards.

However, I do think In the main Youngs is playing the best rugby he's played for a number of years and right now I'm happy for him to be our number 1.

He's alright yeah, when he's on the pitch that is. Spends half of his time mincing about Paris as he's been knocked the eff out again as no one seems to have taught him to tackle low and he keeps knocking himself out going high on Basteraud.

Can someone hurry up and leak the teams so we have to stop with all these bad jokes?

Oh THAT lad? He'll never make it big.

Leaks don't happen until after Tuesday, since that's the big training day.

There's talk of selecting Oliver Cromwell in the second row apparently, that work for you?

He was sorted along time ago :D But .... If you throw a famous previous PM like Maggie in at 9 we got a game :p

POC, POM, Kearney.....more than enough hateable people on that pitch :p

Kearney is fair game but the other 2. Sure MODs this deserves a 2 week ban and well a bout of confession. We were all having banter and you just take it too far :p

Ireland XV

Clohessy Wood Hayes
Mal O'Kelly Mick Galwey
Eric Miller Quinlan and Victor Costelloe
Michael Bradley and David Humphreys (Token Ulster Man ;))
Kevin Maggs and Rob Henderson
Girv the Swirve at 15 with Anthony Horgan and Simon Geoghegan on wings.

Thats the rumours

I'm really looking forward to seeing the two main rivals for the 10 shirt on the next Lions tour playing against each other...I would expect Sexton to have the edge at the moment, based on experience, but I think who gets the shirt in 2017 will depend on who has the better form going into the tour...I really don't see much between these two, Sexton might be a bit more robust but Ford is probably a slightly better/more direct runner. In terms of controlling the game and kicking out of hand they are both world class. Place kicking might not matter too much for the Lions if Halfpenny is the starting fullback, but it will be interesting to see who has the better of it on Sunday.

Youngs' passing is a weakness, but it gets the job done, and I think people overlook just how many bad passes every scrum-half out there today gives. It just seems to be part and parcel of the modern game, much as I might wish it was otherwise. That's the main thing really. People act as if Youngs is some sort of anomaly when pretty much everyone's at it.

At least he gets some

he's a fine looking lad for certain.

agreed. Find it very frustrating the poor quality of the passing from 9 in the AP. There are a lot of bouncing bombs and what not - it's the change in style, a long running pass is less accurate then a static pass, but obviously you interest the defence and you get more distance on it so coaches seem to let it go.

England to win by 20. Ireland to get a dubious amount of penalties to keep them in the game until the 60th min.
