[2015 Six Nations] Ireland vs England (Round 3)

Well considering the other choice is Tom 'Can't Hook, Can't Throw' Youngs. Hartley is a necessary evil how often has he lost a match through I'll discipline?

How can you tell? We only lost the SA game by 3, if we'd had Hartley on the pitch, and perhaps won a penalty from that maul instead of conceding one, it could have been a very different story.

As for Corbs over Mako, what has Corbs shown recently that would put him above? Makos scrummaging has improved, and is unmatched in the loose. Has Corbs even started for Saints since his last injury?

Corbs is better in the loose. Not as powerful, but far more involved.

Makos scrummaging mag have improved but he still gives away a penalty most every time he walks off the bench and Corbs is still a world class scrummager, in a way none of our other props really are.

Has he shown that since coming back from injury? His return at the start of the season saw him demolishing his opponent, but regularly picking up a pen or two for boring in. After his shoulder injury he appears to have slimmed down a little bit, and from what I understand, did little more than shore up the Saints scrum during the Bath match.

Let's see what he does after a start for Saints to judge exactly where he is.

Considering he stopped the Saints scrum getting utterly demolished he did a bit more than sure it up.

However yes he was a sub and coming back from injury so I wouldn't expect him to play for England until Saints consider he's fit enough as a starter.

Got to disagree about Corbisiero being more involved in the loose - Vunipola makes a lot of tackles per match, like Corbisiero, and he definitely makes more carries than Corbisiero. Vunipola's carries are big ones too, Saracens always seem to be more dangerous in attack with both Mako and Billy playing, Mako takes some of the pressure off Billy as the main ball carrier as Haskell has done in the last couple of England matches.

Corbs once again announced on the bench, whilst Lawes starts, for Saints tomorrow night.

So do I understand it that Heaslip is ruled out of the game but is included in the squad basically so he can be in and around the squad to share his experience?

Corbisiero when fit is better all round rugby player than Mako.

yeah Mako carries, but Corbisiero's decision making on ball and game awareness is excellent. He knows when to make those little one out passes and when to show and go. It's something England have really missed and Marler is only just now starting to show the same game awareness. He's also very good around the breakdown with pick and goes and counter rucking, and is a good low tackler whereas Mako seems to either light someone up or be ineffective.

Once he's starting for Saints i'd have Corb's back in a heart beat.

Yep. He's doing a bit of mentoring to Jordi it seems like.

He's a big guy in the camp. Captained Leinster and Ireland and has bundles of caps for both. Good man to have around, you need your leaders.

He'd be in extended panel regardless so wouldn't be able. Same as last time except he was able to play for Leinster as it was on Sunday vs Dragons

Joe doesn't seem to like to change his team too much mid way through. The team changes quite a bit between say the 6N and the summer, but during the test series' themselves he seems to go for continuity. Dave Kearney last year would be a good example.

Agree but Luke has been in 26 man squad last game and time before vs Italy was omitted for Earls who's in similar scenario. He may be 23.

I'd bust my left nut if Luke Fitz scored against England to win it.
