[2015 RWC] Warm Up Match: France vs England (22/08/2015)

A lot of moaning about the players tonight but what is the feeling about Lancaster's approach and how did tonight help him sort the wheat from the chaff?

lot of people have a bee in their bonnett about Lancaster anyway, but i think a lot of today was down to inability to execute rather than game plan.

Dane Coles?

More like Dan Cole

I think many will agree I am one of his biggest supporters on here.

But I think he has to go (barring a England team in the semi final +)

Again I am fairly fair on him in my views so for me to say this shows how bad he has been.

Maybe the mood will lighten with a victory over the Irish.

Ain't never hoppnin. Maybe at Twickers.

Think all we can do after this warm up is rinse and repeat. Minor changes, e.g Wood/Binny (Morgan at 8) for Hask (onto the bench), take 36 away and get him put down, play Cips at 10 for once... Even off the bench.

Edit: 200 you mofos.

There's no mood to lighten . We lost against a brilliant French performance in Paris . The forwards looked rusty (haven't played since May) we won't face a pack anywhere near as powerful as the French in our group . However if I was a kiwi I'd be praying the French win their group because they love ****ing your party up ;) you were beaten easily in the forwards in Sydney by the Australians and France's pack are twice as powerful as has been proven in the last 2 games

Taking a rose-tinted look at tonight's game.

We scored 2 tries and conceded 1. 90% of the time, the team scoring more tries wins. Ill discipline is far easier to fix than a weak defence or impotent attack.

Set plays are being repeated. I think we have used 3/4 different Lineout calls across both games, surely this won't be the case at RWC and first phase ball will be secured more reliably. Backs moves are also being repeated, I think, to the same effect.

All RWC games are played at home, where, amongst other things, we can trust the pitch to hold up.

We finished both halves by far the stronger team and looked more dangerous the more phases we built. Using French as comparators we are aerobically fitter.

In RWC we won't be bringing twelvetrees off the bench... (sorry, cheap shot)

I know I'm ignoring a lot and bending truths here. Point is, I don't think that this scoreline means we won't do well at the world cup. Watching that game I'd be more worried as an Irish fan than an English one.

I can see England V France in semi final and I'd back us to win.

Off the back of that, I'd rather have Cipriani as the second 15 than Goode. My only worry is that he hasn't really been tested there in defence or under a lot of high ball so far.

.

Lulling France into a false sense of security right?

Going off the 6n Ireland game and the fact that he's better then Goode in every other facet of the game, its a no brainer.

Unfortunately, Lancaster will pick Goode.
Unfortunately agree with that.

I think Lancaster had his team set out pre-warm up games (potentially pre-training camps), and I'd be amazed if it's changed since then (bar injury to Corbs and/or Brookes).

My gut tells me that the only change he may have considered (barring those for injury/suspension reasons) is Burgess possibly replacing 12Trees. I'd be shocked if there are any ommisions of the incumbents.
