[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 2: New Zealand vs. France (17/10/2015)

Fantastic game from the All Blacks, every player bar none stepped it up today.

Hopefully this puts to rest the concerns about Carter.

Nah will lose in the semis.

How you guys gonna go in your semi? oh thats right..

typical maccaw bs to make the match ugly, and yes picamoles is stupid to respond

lol cry

Disgrace McCaw gets away with professional foul pulling down a driving French maul. He's a cheat and gets away with it.

lol cry

Still boggles my mind that people call him a legend. He has always been a cheat.

lol cry

And what do you contribute, Tony? At least I make constructive posts 95% of the time, and respond to the occasional idiocy the other 5%. What exactly do you do? Just make jokey posts. You're a tosser, plain and simple.

Agree.

Back onto the rugby, well played by the AB's, not quite a complete performance but damn good.

Now wheres that little Irish cock saying the AB's wouldn't make the semis? bet he won't show his face.

That was a fab performance. Being English and therefore a supporter of the underdog by default I kinda wanted France (!) to pull it out of the bag and send NZ home, but you can't argue with that kind of passing, running, breakdown and scoring instinct across across an entire team. SA and Aus should be alarmed and Ireland would struggle to suffocate them the way they would want/need to. Sublime.
Don't want to overestimate the ABs, but I can't see a weakness. Maybe not so hot in the rolling maul. And the authorities should investigate their exclusive patent on one-handed slip passes from brick-****house forwards.

Apart from that ... all their nine tries came from forward passes. Including the blockdown. FFS, Nonu even forward passed to himself trying to get the tenth.

I would like to formally apologise to Daniel Carter. I doubted you, and I was wrong. I called for your replacement, and I was wrong. I said you were past it, and I was wrong. Still pretty damn happy with how wrong I was though.

To be honest, I didn't like our first 20 minutes, I thought we were panicking, trying for drop-goals, I mean, come on lads... But... After that.... I can't really complain. We could have had another two tries, if Ben Smith off'd to Nonu, and Nonu didn't lose it.

It's hard to know what South Africa will bring, but in the meantime, I shall be awake tonight to watch Argentina vs Ireland. I strongly believe it will be a tighter affair than what just happened.

Right, noW that the trolls have died down I'll give my take on the game.

I thought the All Blacks did amazingly well, obviously! I guess I was indeed wrong on a couple of things. They were holding back some of that agile precision to take the line on, and everything just seemed to go up a gear. Maa Nonu, Julian Savea, Skudder, Moody and Retallick all deserve special mentions. Crockett has a groin injury. Does anyone else think if he can't recover that Moody should be number 1? We shall monitor that one I guess.

Carter has been in some of the best form I have ever seen him in. The speed at which he was running was like the DC of old almost. I always backed him, so I feel somewhat vindicated there. But I have been concerned about Savea, so he certainly stepped up and deserves to be recognised for it.

I guess we should keep things in perspective though. France lost their number 10 early which is massive in a QF. This French team aren't exactly one which seems to have the tightness and the togetherness of 2011. It really wasn't a good showing by them. I'm struggling to remember what exactly they did. I guess Fofana looked good at times. Picamoles was huge when he was on. There were a few good bursts but nothing consistent throughout the game. They just never gave themselves a fighting chance it seems? Maybe I didn't realise how poor the situation really was for them.

Thought Read and Kaino did much better, even if they weren't fully tested. Restarts with Read are a bit of a worry. The handling skills aren't fabulous right now, but I'm banking on him to have one super strong outing.

I'm pleased the forwards had that much pace, looked eager, and not old man like as we have done in some games this year. Some of our backs though...I think it was a day for individual backline brilliance at times tbh.

Won't even comment on the French yellow card. But man posters here are gigantic hypocrites and terribly inconsistent with their judgements.

Do I think we can beat the Springboks? Absolutely. But it won't be anywhere near that easy. We also will need to address a few issues regarding their midfield because they tore us up last time.

Mcfadden, you are a sad sad person.

God you're a waste of space, you little freak. But no, I'm very happy after whipping you lot :)

All Blacks played really well, against a very poor French side. They've been poor for 4 years.

Next week will be great.

Wasn't as tight as I thought it would be. Sad to see the last 2 or 3 pages have been about McCaw being a cheat and not the master class the ABs put on but at the end of the day haters are gon hate, it was the softest yellow I've seen for a while!! The win was epic but all it does is ensure us 1 more week in the tournament. Hoping for a all 4 nations semi. Can't see Aus losing and Ireland don't have the pedigree to go all the way, long May the SH reign ontop.

Number of scrums

There was only 1 scrum in the 1st half (32mins), but there were 5 scrums in the 2nd half (54mins, 56mins, 66mins, 76mins, 80mins).
Is there any statistics about the number of scrums in the 1st and 2nd halves (and extra-time)?

Well considering we've been scratchy against Georgia, Namibia and improved slightly against Tonga I think we'll take it. The second part is simply not true and is the sort of thing a mental person Would scribble in his crazy journal.

I wouldn't be mouthing off. You're lucky to even still be there matey.

I think NZer's in this thread are overrating some of our players the team played great but really this french mob were just pathetic. I knew we were way better than them but didnt expect them to surrender like this.

I also think all the southern hemisphere teams need to get together and from now on have a rule of not to thrash nothern hemisphere teams by more than 30 otherwise they are gunna wanna change the rules on us again.....

Really well played by NZ but we all have to accept that France were just awful. I expected way more from them.

If anything this All Blacks win makes Argentina looks stronger and Ireland weaker (According to previous group match results).

The French definitely could have done better than what they did. And the injury as I mentioned is a gigantic loss. A large part of your game plan is built around the number 10, so I feel for them there really. While Barrett is very capable, I'd be guttered if we lost Carter. But it's not exactly our problem they didn't show up. I mean, yes, it's worth keeping in mind but only to a degree. We cracked 60 odd points, I'm sure at least some of those would have snuck through against tougher opposition. The Springboks will be extremely tough, and we did a lot wrong against them over in the Republic. Their midfield is epic, JP Pieterson and Habana are always going to be major threats and game changers, and we need to make our tackles stick on them this time. But they aren't flawless. So yeah, France didn't turn up, but I think it's safe to give the ABs a wee bit of credit. Crikey.

Good man! At least there are a few AB supporters who are genuine enough to admit when they were wrong!!

Now where are all those people that doubted Savea?

They can get in line just in-front of all the people that said Kaino was over the hill as well ;) I think he has pretty much proved himself now too!! Not that he really had to IMO.

Anyway lads, for goodness sake would some of you stop taking the bait of the trollers, its overshaddowing what should be a chance to revel in this record breaking win!!

62 - 13

Not much more to be said than that right!! Such a joy to watch!

Genuine question but is that margin (or the fact the ABs scored 62) a World Cup record? Can't imagine many of those scores being posted at finals time. Can see 44-21 victory to SA over England in 1999, and a few other scores over the years in the 30's, a score with 48, but nothing this big in the KO stages.

Yup its the biggest winning margin in QF RWC history - eclipsing the 42 - 14 win SA had over Samoa in '95

Im still here and im still perfectly happy to say it.
Kaino iv never had a huge problem with.

Savea ran over the top of the most feeble tackles you will likely ever see. They were pathetic end of story. That entire french backline was a joke.

Im willing to wager with anyone on here, im prepared to put my money where my mouth is. If savea runs over the top of THREE SOUTH AFRICAN players in a row and scores against SA i'll give the first one on here to PM me $50NZD. But of course if it doesnt happen it goes the other way.

Oh stop it, would you? But the French in the group stages were looking top class, right? Ireland were fantastic to beat France the way they did, though? Smh. I knew as soon as this happened, a lot of AB haters on here would turn 360 degrees on a lot of favoured opinions.

God imagine IF Manu could develop his all round game like Nonu did/has.

Yeah... Imagine that. I've posted elsewhere about our options after Nonu/Smith. Nonu really can be unplayable, and irreplaceable at times.

The kiwis are looking unstoppable now they don't look like they have any weakness. I can't see the Boks touching New Zealand in the semi. However On the other hand France had the biggest capitulation since the Krauts goose stepped down the champs-elysees. France need now a root and branch restructuring their whole game. they will have to have an international player cap in their Top14 league etc.
