[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Wales (26/09/2015)

What's Goode's and Barritt's point of difference?
Lol.

To play devils advocate, Barritt is a superb defensive organiser* and goode is an intelligent playmaking fullback with a lovely step.**

* who can't beat a man or make a sharp pass (ignore that beaut for May v NZ)

** who is so slow he needs to beat the man 3 times, and who is weak in the tackle.

Barritt hasn't got poor technique when he passes, most of his passes are pretty good to the guy. The issue is that he needs a telegram for it to become obvious to him, he normally just shovels the ball on.
Goode is our best kicking player, fly half or fullback and he also has great vision. But agreeing with you is that his physical attributes are that of a drunk prop. Sorry to any drunk props I've offended with that comment.

Mixed feelings upon seeing the Wales team today. Pleased for Baldwin that he is getting recognition he deserves. Yes, Owens is a fantastic player in the loose, but Baldwin is a more consistent and solid all-rounder and has probably been our best hooker in the lineout for a good couple of years. Francis was a surprise, but he has been pretty solid to be fair. Perhaps the management want him to play out a solid scrum for the first 50 or so, and then get Lee on to turn a few scrums in the final 30/40 mins.

I was disappointed to see Davies picked ahead of Charteris, who has been the best line-out specialist for Wales in recent times. I can't understand the balance of AWJ and Davies together, two bruising ball-carriers. Charteris offers something completely different to AWJ and is great at disrupting the mauls too.

Obviously Tipuric, but I'm not even going to go there. I'm sure every other post on this forum from me has been to moan about the Welsh managements inability to see this guy's talent and potential.

Cuthbert on the bench is ridiculous. I'm over the moon he has finally been dropped from the XV, but Morgan offers far more off the bench if Wales need an impact player than someone who is likely to pass the ball into the stands in the dying seconds of a tense game.

I wonder if any of the experts ever turn round and say the Everest window chap " look mate I cannot understand that call the blokes off his head" I can imagine Austin Healy doing it and thats possibly why I haven't seen much of him so far.

Jason Robinson's face last night said "I'm glad I'm not playing" he said something different.

Personally I'm waiting for Woodward he's a fan of Ford and he doesn't usually mince his words.

Haha, this is the second World Cup Healey has been left out of.

I think in this case it was the wrong call, without him or Greenwood there is little actual analysis.

Moore is the other big loss I think.

Overall ITVs coverage is a vast improvement over before. But still needs some work.

Telegraph reporting that ITV have been getting complaints about the new 'World in Union' song, tbh I didn't even notice it. Now though, good lord; she sounds atrocious. Once heard it's impossible to not hear. Like nails on a blackboard.

Agreed. In general I quite like Nick Mullins as a commentator (when he was on the six nations coverage too), when he isn't resorting to ridiculous metaphors like "rolling ball of humanity" or making questionable comments about Pacific Island nations.

Also, I love the fact ITV secured Eddie Butler and that he commentated on the first Wales game. I wonder what other games he'll be in charge of.

Every damn advert break....it really grates after you watched an entire weekends coverage.

Butler I'd happily live me life if I didn't have to hear him during a Rugby match again.

Agreed on both counts!!

I am really surprised at the absence of Moore, Healey and Greenwood when you consider the inclusion of the dross like Robinson, Maggie Alphonsi, and Murphy!

Do not get me wrong, I started to watch women's rugby because of Maggie and Robinson was one of the greats.......but in comparison to Greenwood et al as pundits, try are dross! I would keep stum about Murphy!!

Butler really fancies himself as some sort of inspiring poet when all he does is make people cringe. The nonsense he talks in the build up to games really ruins the feeling and makes me want to mute it. He's not any better as a commentator.

I've stopped sobbing at the news of our most talented 10 for... Well to be honest the most talented 10 of my life time being dropped...

SL is a damn fool... I assume as has been mentioned the wingers will come into the middle and track SB for offloads... Well he picked the wrong wingers, Roko yes, Yarde yes, but no he picked willow the whisp wingers who thrive by exploiting space with their pace...

Wales will deal with our attacking midfield with ease, the centres will bash it up and will be stopped and quite frankly it is beyond conte station that Wales are better at the break down.

Farrell is solid but lacks attacking vision, meaning unlike Ford they don't really have to defend him.

As for his miss passes, didn't we see of his miss passes waste and overlap!

Agree totally with what has been said on here re the forwards, I'd be hugely surprised if they suddenly became a powerhouse again!

Annoyed is not the word... I'm off to cry about Fordy again now!

I'd love to see ex-players passed up for people with real experience in commentary/punditry who would be a guaranteed success. There are plenty of people with years of broadcasting experience on local radio stations.

I think the known face of the pundit/commentary is perhaps seen as more important than their actual skill, unfortunately.
