[2014 TRC] New Zealand v Australia in Auckland (23/08/2014)

Folau isn't over rated - he was just playing in a side that was outclassed. He still beat at least one tackler every time he got the ball, and it took someone taking his head off to stop him earlier.

But why Beale at 10? Its stupidity he is not an international 10 in any shape or form. He was classy for the wallabies at Fullback a couple years back. It just makes way more sense for the balance of that backline. Folau bursting onto balls after beale breaks the defence will be WAY more effective.

Which is predictably slow and boring. Close, I'll admit, but that's all it's got going for it, and is due to the lack of any stand out teams within it.

I really wish that for the next 6N Scotland shows up in kilts, painted blue. That should spice things up a bit...especially in the tackles and such. Would add a whole new meaning to 'ball's out'...

@ Tony Manx...

I am being treated to all sorts of Marshall on-field interviews now... :D

(Eep. sorry for the double post)

Would the result change if the high shot was called?

Jane's borderline coathanger on Folau. I think the correct call could've massively changed the game result, possibly even allowing the Wallabies to snatch it.

I mean, it did prove to be the difference of 10/14 points depending on how you want to look at it. I doubt the score would've been 51-20 if the ref was paying closer attention.

I actually agree with that - I don't think Beale is really "the problem" with the team being at 10 (it was our forwards that lost it for us) - but I think he'd be better at FB. Our wings aren't wings and Beale is very good in that position, so putting Beale at FB and pushing Folau to wing and McCabe out (does he ever do anything?) makes more sense.

All Blacks kicked brilliantly I have to say though - short kicking game in behind reminded me of Andrew Johns during Origin in his hey-day; just always kept the defence in two minds.

Hansen clearly out thought McKenzie in this game and he really needs to go back and take stock here.

Are u kidding me? Boks couldn't last year and this year are at a lower level. Or you're talking about the Pumas?

This is very predictable, I prefer the 6N by far

I never count my chickens until they hatch.

If SA win tomorrow they are 2 from 2 and we would have to beat them at home and away to secure the win.

Beale is an excellent FB, imo. He's quick and good on his feet, but also a fairly fearless tackler. I think his talent is lost at 10.

Wow. Just wow. No, not just wow. That is being terribly unfair ot plain ignorant and I just couldn't even be bothered to list why.

On topic. Big game by NZ. Put down a marker there. Very excited for the rest of the competition.

All in all the Wallabies just really lacked intensity in this match. One thing that the Blues showed in Origin this year is that it's possible to overcome a more talented team if you WANT IT more. The Blues killed themselves making tackles in Origin 1 and hung on for an absolute classic. The Wallabies by contrast here were sloppy and even lazy in both attack and defence. For mine there was a distinct lack of passion.

1986 I suspect. France might of beaten us in 1994

might HAVE ? only team to win a test series in NZ in the pro era.

Does "the try from the other side of the world" ring the bell ? short memory...Saint-André was involved, but thank the Lord Almighty not as a coach.

Anyways, very nice win NZ. Some of those 50 points weren't legit, but still a very dominant performance obviously. So who's next ? Ah, ARG comin' over...

The Rugby Championship: The most predictable tournament in the world.

All Blacks played 14 games

Won games: 13

Drawn games: 1

Lost games: 0

Boooooooooooooooring

France is like that actress who finally wins an Oscar...then stops trying. They're the Halle Berry of rugby. :D

Which is why when the Wallabies won it in 2011 it was awesome. Sure the 6N has more variation in its champions, but this isn't like the EPL where 4 teams just own the comp and no one else can win it because of their cash... it's tough because NZ have better structures in place and develop better players.
