2014 Six Nations: Ireland vs Scotland (Round 1)

Damn when is Fitzgerald going to get a decent run of form with injury interrupting?? I hope it isn't serious. He was someone I was looking forward to seeing in the Irish side as we don't have anyone else with his kind of spark. At least it's Scotland first up.

I think its just a groin strain and reports are saying that he could play if he passes a fitness test on friday but I'd not risk him, hes one of the form Irish players atm.

Trimble in the team ahead of McFadden. Marshall gets the nod over D'arcy. Tuohy on the bench instead of McCarthy. Schmidt's Leinster bias is shining through..........

Well interesting as team before was Fitz in and Trimble wasn't in 23. McCarthy ruled out through injury and was on bench. So that argument is totally invalid. And as I said some will see it as bias others won't but well if it gets results that's what matters.

That's good to hear. I don't think we'd need him this weekend so if he is ready by Friday it would be great for him to have a week off. Fitzgerald on fresh legs would be nice to watch.

There is a rumour that it's actually an abdominal strain and he's out of theis weekend and probably Wales. Only a rumour though and one I hope is false.

Rumour is as you say abdominal strain and well they range from 1-8weeks being out but I think Luke's is mild and 1-2week thing. McCarthy I think his stitches burst open again

Well there goes the most exciting back we have. And Trimble, oh dear I'm not a huge fan. I prefer McFadden It's not a great swap It's already a bad omen that Earls and Fitz, our two from wings are out. Still a rumour I guess but I could believe it of Fitzy. Talk about a crushed talent.
Besides that, I wouldn't drop D'Arcy, he's not showing his age as badly as B'OD has this year. I would also include Henderson. I've made my views on Toner clear and besides Henderson is the future and has definite Pedigree. This is the kind of call I'm hoping Schmidt will make. I wand O'Donnell in for Henry too but I'm biased of course, and neither is clearly better yet. I'd start Moore too, reasons have been done to death. Ross never offered very much and now his scrimmaging is going downhill.

Aye but Charlie Redmond and Barney Rock are in the half forward line.

He's a feckin ballix from the pale.:mad::lol:

Original Irish Team as lined out Tuesday was Rob Kearney, Dave Kearney BOD D'Arcy Fitz Sexton Murray Heaslip Henry/TOD (alternated) POM Toner POC Ross/Moore (alternated) Best Healy.

Presume this was original team with a few alterations obviously due to injury and Marshall.
Another thing I've heard and may be worth keeping an eye out for is when Copeland went 8 in other drill they had Heaslip rotating between 6&7.

this could be a nice viable way of getting a big ball carrier in to the pack
heaslip is more than capable of the doing the grunt work aswell

Team is as posted bit back so that's it roll on first weekend of 6nations.

Rumored team was right, no issues with selection with injuries and whose in the squad its the strongest possible team Would have liked to see Zebo but thats a whole other discussion and i'm sure joe has his reasons. Good to see Marshal really hope this is his year great to have him and D'Arcy duking it out for the 12 shirt.

Just to add, now the team is out i'm officially excited for the 6N love this time of year.

Been honest (and not accusing it of provincial bias)
D'Arcy will be back at 12 next weekend regardless of Marshall's performance due to rotation between 2 who in fairness are both playing well and Marshall probably got this week as D'Arcys defense will be more required next weekend in a 6day turnaround.

Most biased team of all time. Where DOC and the Bull? Schmidt clearly has his head in the clouds, time for a change of management. I propose Frankie Sheehan and the writing staff of the Irish Examiner.

i think this will be scotlands hardest game along with wales but we should be fine with the others and im going to say for this game ireland by +10 or +5

Don't forget Mick Galwey and the Claw. Schmidt hates Munster.

It's not far off the best that's available but I don't think that's a great Irish team.
