2014 6 Nations: England vs Wales (Round 4)

I'd look to give him the opportunity to oust Wood.

Indeed. Tom Wood is a very good player, a player with an awful lot to offer England, but he's not World Class in form, ability or potential, and what he offers England are things being offered by half the pack. If we are to progress, we need to look at replacing some of the work horses with players whose specialist skills or outstanding athleticism offer something more.

Wood is currently the most precarious of the workhorses and there are a number of players who have shown enough to suggest they would better the balance and impact of our pack. Over the coming year, I would like to see those players get a chance to make their cases.

But dont we let our rugby do the talking? We cant win - we lose to Ireland and are crap - and then we wallop the French but thats because they were crap not because we were good. So best to say naff all :) Must say though, I'm well looking forward to the England game. And when we win that it'll be because..... who knows what the 'experts' will come up with!

Lack of Welsh supporters here... possibly waiting a week to start the banter :p Wales vs France thread was pretty quiet too from our Welsh contingent

Mate I predicted that Wales would beat France on that thread and that was enough for me.

This game will be tournament defining however

I sincerely doubt that this will happen, Lancaster has turned to Wood as one of his game leaders countless times in interviews....you dont get dropped with an opinion like that. I met Tom Wood's uncle on a train down to London after the NZ game in 2012, he said that on the Sunday his grandmother who was in her 80's had been at the game and the following day she was in church and the vicar announced Tom and his man of the match award - which then led to the church singing Jerusalem !

Ha true!
The ***le should now come down to the winners of this game vs the winner of France vs Ireland in round 5 on points difference, barring any upsets from Italy and Scotland

I'd really like Italy to get an upset against Ireland not because I want Ireland to lose but I don't want Italy to finish bottom of the table. If Italy beat Ireland then Scotland should be at the bottom again. Scotland have played the most uninspiring and hope destroying rugby this 6N and they deserve to finish bottom.

i dunno both their trys on saturday were crackers.

Otherwise yeah, they've been gash.

At their current rate I can't see them getting tries in their last 2 games. If they finish with 2 tries I suspect it will be down as one of the lowest number of tries by a team in 6N history [citation needed].

I felt loneliness like never before on that thread...

I'd be abit careful about the WHEN part of your statement . Could be asking for a lot of banter if wales don't play well or get beaten ;)

Can't wait for this one, I think it's a much improved England team from last year but I still feel Wales will nick it. Couldn't be much closer between the two teams and who ever wins this one will take the lead.

England vs Wales

Played 124 - England 61, Wales 61, Drawn 12
Grand slam - England 12, Wales 11
Triple crown - England 23, Wales 20

The English pack looks pretty good at the moment and I was particularly impressed with Launchbury, he was immense against Ireland alongside Laws but I think they will struggle in the front row. I also don't rate Robshaw at all. You can't fault him for his efforts because he always gives 110% but I just can't see what he brings to the team that's so unique. I find him a bit slow, not the best ball carrier, hardly see him win any turnovers (like a world class 7 always does) and his decision making under pressure is appalling for a captain. I would personally play Billy V at 6, woods 7 and Morgan 8. Now that's a impact back row! Sorry for upsetting Robshaw fans but I just find him average.

Rhys Web should keep his place and if Davies is fit, north should move to the
wing. I would also pick Biggar ahead of Pristland and why can't Hook buy a game for Wales?

I was thinking this was a good, well thought out post.........then you mentioned Hook :p

I find it funny how often people go on about Hook then ever so often he plays for Wales and is either poor or average, people then say why the hell was Hook selected then a year down the line it's back to why isn't hook being selected?

could you imagine if Wales actually go almost exactly 30-3 again on England ? I'd love to hear what the English fans would start saying then, just sit back, grab a nice Burgundy red and just scroll through calmly.

Well they did it to France ;) I've still not quite got the smile off my face yet

Was sure someone wouldn't pass the chance for that one. Surely someone like you ;)
yeah, a France side that would've struggled against the U20 France side. That's fine, keep smiling. I've got the smile off my face a while back from Fickou shutting up that noisy English crowd in Stade de France and scoring the clutchiest try I've seen in a while from my XV de France. I move on. But that loss in Cardiff seemed a bit more resounding than this, Wales merely taking advantage of a crappy French side most of the way...would be quite something if they could repeat it in Twickenham ! Just sayin...

Wales weren't that good last weekend they didn't need to be .......

If they don't up their performance from last weekend they will be lucky not to be on the end of a drubbing themselves

I think we'd probably be taking our own record there! The Scotland team of the past couple of years is free-scoring compared to the 5 or so years before!

LOL well it was kinda deliberate 'when' just as a marker for the banter to start...... let the games begin!
