I have no idea why Namibia keep kicking towards North! He's broken the line everytime from the kickoff!

Thank you for the appearance, Namibia. You lost all your games by a lot, but I have to admit I enjoyed watching you play.

Happy with 81 - 7, impressed with the young players in the Welsh team! Though would've been nice to get a couple more tries when they were fresher. Hopefully it'll boost their confidence a fair bit anyway! Interesting choices creeping up for the starting centres vs Fiji, I like the look of a Scott Williams - Jamie Roberts partnership. Jon Davies had a good game today, but would be good to see Williams given a game against a better team. Thought Byrne had a very good game today, solid all day under the high ball and made some good breaks and set up one hell of a try for North! As I predicted George North was cutting the tired Nambians to bits, good to see him getting a couple of tries.
Bit worried about a couple of the knocks to Jenkins and Ryan Jones (thought he was brilliant), hopefully nothing too serious. Jaques Burger was fantastic for Namibia, gave Wales loads of problems at the breakdown.

Well the result we needed going into the last game. Half time I was filled with frustration due to the unforced errors and lack of accuracy when converting chances into points. Came out of the blocks with all guns blazing in the second half, much to the help of the replacements. Powell making a big impression indeed!
Can't get too carried away with the result, still a few things to work on before the final group match vs Fiji. Got turned over in key positions during the 1st half, so we must focus on our support play (not depend on Warburton to save us ruck after ruck). Still believe that someone needs to teach Jon Davies how to pass - didn't see him pass once during 1st half, consistantly took the contact instead of giving the ball prior to it
Scott Williams impressed, and with the way that Roberts/Davies have played as an unit (I don't believe they've been great together) I wouldn't mind seeing Williams and Roberts given a game against Fiji (Williams seems to have good foot work, nice hands and rather strong - Don't like playing 2 "crash ball centers", but I'd rather see Williams in front of Davies).
Gethin Jenkins take a bow for that try, showed a great turn of pace to take the try. How many prop forward do you see run one in (with still work to do) from outside the 22. Also Bevington is one quick Mother!!! His turn of pace is immense for a guy of his size, looking forward to seeing him play some more games over next few years

Don't think there's any point to being pedantic in games like these (ref let a LOT of things off) and to some extent I agree with Walsh who at some stage looks to have decided to just let both teams get on with it. Unfair to both teams yes but if he had to blow up every mistake, especially from Namibia the game would probably have been even less watchable IMO. This match and the others where Namibia were involved lends some weight to only having the top 20 compete in the competition but that'd be denying these teams the chance to get something out of the tournament. IRB just need to see if they can't do something regarding the scheduling as it really kills off any chance these smaller teams might have had and also see if they can't get more regular matches against better teams.

Couple of selection dilemmas now though, if Shane is out who plays 15 vs Fiji? Wasn't all that impressed with Brew, so I wouldn't start him at all. Got the choice of 15. Byrne 14. Halfpenny 11.North or even 15. Halfpenny 14. North 11. Scott Williams (S4C guys mentioned this - he has the pace and the power and proved today that he's a good finisher)
Back row - Powell was good when he was running at the Nambians, but his passing was a bit inaccurate (was fine vs Nambia, but won't be vs Fiji) and he never tends to pull his weight in the rucks so is not the answer to our no.6 slot. Happy with that. A little lapse in the second quarter, but other than that it was pretty plain sailing. Gotta feel for Namibia though, they've had an unfairly tough schedule, and were always gonna be feeling it come the latter stages.
Overall the Welsh performance was good, although sometimes players needed to realise that hanging onto the ball and recycling was a better option than throwing a silly offload, Brew being the biggest culprit. The scrum was a mess, and we were getting ourselves isolated on occasions. I wasn't at all impressed with Knoyle or Lloyd Burns, and thought Lloyd Williams and Ken Owens were a massive improvement over those two. For me Ken Owens should be on the bench for Fiji, but it's bound to be Burns again, despite him being a very ordinary player indeed. He tries hard, but he doesn't offer all that much in any aspect of his game, and he gave away lots of penalties and made plenty of mistakes today. Knoyle was simply too slow and indecisive getting the ball out to the backs.

Halfpenny started very brightly, but faded in the second half. Byrne was solid at fullback, although I'd have expected more breaks from a fullback in a game where we scored 12 tries. He's not hitting the line like he used to, and that's still a massive worry for me. Up front, Jenkins was very good, as was all three locks. The backrow were a little off the pace in places, but both Faletau and Powell had powerful displays.

Yeah that Davies is a greedy man, i'd never give him another game until i saw improvement in his distribution. Halfpenny and Brew must be gutted playing outside a prick like that haha

Great to see loads of welsh tries, Jon Davies had a good game but today proved he only works when he's not playing with Roberts. Williams was very impressive all round. Steven Jones i wouldn't play, great replacement to come on but shouldn't start.
Also Brew was ok, but didn't show anything to get him picked over Halfpenny & North. Thought Burns wasn't good, gave away too many penalties and against other teams it would be too costly. Byrne was solid so if Shane is out for Fiji then he has to play. Got a feeling we might get a bonus point win over Fiji, something like 35 - 20.

^^^^^^ (Scarlets-fan) I agree with your statement Regarding Davies' lack of functioning with Roberts. But its more Roberts' style of play over the individual. Jon Davies has showed good form with the Scarlets through last season, but a lot of that has to do with a certain creative New Zealander inside him. He's been carried through the season by Regan King's creativity. Gonna be interesting to see how he copes without him.
For a player such as Jon Davies to be used to their full potential they need a creative 12 inside them. Running hard at the opposition is only effective against certain teams ala today after 50/60 minutes (with no disrespect to Namibia who did prove a great threat for the 1st half).
For Fiji i'd like to see Hook return to 12, with Roberts at 13 or vice versa. We need some sort of creativity in the center pairing so that our back 3 have a chance of receiving the ball in space - and don't have to go searching for it in midfield and first receiver.

Wow, I was so wrong. My money was on Wales but was pleasantly surprised by their 74 point victory margin.
I know that Namibia just played the SPRINGBOKS on Thursday and had had no time to recover but I did not think that Wales had the ability to fihish off that well.
Well done to Wales, that also puts into perspective how well the Springboks did to beat Wales!

I agree, he does need a creative player at 12 to give him that half a gap to burst though. Regan will be a big miss but seeing Williams come through is a huge relief, not the same style of partnership but hopefully it will work.
Back to Wales, Roberts has overcome his similar form problems so maybe his improvements might rub off on JD. Might need to adapt his game a little to work for wales.
Is Hook fit for Fiji? I assumed he wouldn't be, but if he is he should start, and Williams on the bench.

For the first time it's not impossible to start thinking of Wales in the final! haha Same applies to Ireland, such is the draw. If England beat France in the QF's (which I expect) they'd be up against Wales or Ireland (two teams that have beaten them this year)

Pleasing result for Wales, great to see them score so many tries and all but secure their passage into the quarter final stages. It was really good experience for the younger players and some of the substitutes, Andy Powell and George North made a great impact. Brew and Halfpenny both impressed as well. Apart from them twenty minutes and the scrum in the first half, it was a very convincing win. Yes, it was only a depleted Namimbia side but it can only install confidence into the side. Bring on Fiji on Sunday now!
