RWC: Fiji - Namibia (10-09-2011, 15:30)

I always hated when england stuck to drop goals to win matches, but namibia is making me laugh.

I don't mind them so far, but one of the drop goals were taken from fairly close to the try line. I'd have been looking for a try at that point.

Fiji score twice to take the lead back, first a penalty then a length of the field try.

Also, I can't delete posts :/

Ahhh thats how you play rugby. Looks like Fiji will go up in 5's and 7's, Namibia 3's.

Damn, regretting predicting Wilkinson for most DGs now

Great try by Fiji - creating things from nothing
Think that'll be the tone of the game - Fiji get a breakout try on their posession, Namibia a load of 3 pointers on theirs

those damn drop goals they are the most ugliest cheapest way of gaining points. Bout time they were changed back to only 1 point they shouldn't be a means of gaining points.

At the end of the day you win by any means possible.....I'll take an AB's WC win with DG's over losing anyday.

And another nice try to Fiji. Teach Namibia to even think about drop goals, hope they get hammered now. Namibia's first five seems decent tho, who the hell is he?

Who is this Kotze fella? Play for anyone big? So far I'd have him over Dan Parks for Cardiff any day :p
Personally I like drop goals, takes a lot of skill from the whole team to get one tbf. Seem to that you either love them or hate them with most fans though.

Your right there but still it's just not rugby. I don't get how a droppie is worth the same as a penalty kick. Take away the 3 point drop kick and teams will stop using it to build points. It should be like league and used to literally win games or break deadlocks.

He plays in the Varsity Cup in SA, certainly has impressed me so far

agreed, they need to change drop goals to 1 point like it is in league, its that way for a reason, so we don't get boring crap

so far the game is going just how i expected it to, fiji making several mistakes making the game closer than it needs to be, fiji could play zimbabwe and still only beat them by 5 points

fiji are getting so dominated at scrum time too, it amazes me how no matter what their scrum is so bad

bloody channel 9 doesnt even have the game on:mad:...have to rely on foxsports website lol..i hope fiji dont choke

Kotze is my hidden gem of the tournament, this guy is amazing, typical whining about drop goals from fans of nations that have no one who can hit them.

I don't find drop goals boring at all, just think it's a clever option to keep the points ticking over when you can't quite break the defence down. Not a big fan of the 1 point DG in League. Feel it makes them almost a bit pointless to do.
Ah Fiji's scrum is not good at all is it? Never rated Manu as a scrummager during his time at the Scarlets. Will be interesting to see it vs Wales scrum, especially since both Gethin Jenkins and Adam Jones are likely to be playing!

Is it just me though, or has Nalaga not had the ball at all?

don't get me wrong, the drop goals are a smart tactic from namibia, but i hate to watch it no matter what team does it, if fiji were doing 3 drop goals in a row when they could have gone for tries i'd be saying the same thing

yeah Nalaga has had no ball, i hope he does score a good try and shows what he can do. Somehow the other winger Goneva always seems to score a try in every game he plays for Fiji, even though he's not the fastest, he's a smart and strong winger that always seems to score

I'm from New Zealand and I like to watch drop goals.

Not too many of them, but the frequency at which they're used in modern rugby union feels about right to me. I wouldn't want to see them go away nor would I want too many of them. It's just right the way it is.

That was one hell of a try by Namibia just now .. and did you see that hit? Just when I thought they threw away possession so easily they make up for it and score by selling that Fijian a dummy.
