Where's the hype?

It's card Wayne Barnes usually...

Well, we've all got our favourite refs haven't we ... I'm pretty sure there's a New Zealand ref from the last RWC that the South Africans aren't to fond of too ... most of us NZers on here acknowledge that there were other factors (yes, the forward pass, and no penalties awarded against the opposition in the second half didn't help), such as the playing personnel selected on the day, and the lack of a "plan B" when things weren't going our way, that contributed to our lose in 2007 ... so yes, we weren't good enough on the day.

I don't think a penalty was awarded to either team in the second half, so it was consistent at least.

My point is there were other factors ... I don't know if France got a penalty or not in the second half, but on conducting a little research, I found NZ had clear dominance in possession, the penalty count for the match was 10-2 to France, and the ABs didn't get a penalty in the last 60 minutes ... is that the ONLY reason they lost, no, they didn't have anyone who could drop a goal for a start

Who has seen this utter utter ARROGANCE?

Haha ... yep, I commented on it earlier when Olyy and I were trading a few posts; it's a pretty scary prospect that you guys are manufacturing giants over there ... it's got to be against the rules surely :)

Sorry Shaggy I was wrong 2 penalties went against the kiwis in the second half, think they were early on.

I refer you to the opening post in this thread: We invented rugby, we choose what rules do and do not apply to us! :p

Something I saw earlier:
Wales have hosted half of all the world cups so far, despite only being host nations for one.
Not content with poaching everyone's players, they're poaching all our world cups as well! I wonder whether the Japanese RWC will host a game in Wrexham?

Not only are we producing giants we are producing giantsome that grow bigger with more arrogance they'll be unstoppable!

That's impressive by Wales ... if they'd only been a little quicker in 2003, they could have had our games too, when they were taken away from us ;)

Took you a mere 20 yrs to win the last one. Won't be holding my breath!!

... let's see, how's my maths ... ugggh! division by zero error! ... would that be no wins from three RWC finals for you guys ... might be turning a little Blue in the face waiting for your first win too :p

I couldn't give a shiite. We have zero expectations to win it. By right we should not even have made any of those 3 finals. Says something about the opposition along the way... We don't turn up at every WC claiming we're going to win it and choke.

Not true. Only New Zealand had that trouble. Some referees you just don't click with, I accept that. And believe me, there was a lot the ABs could have done better in terms of policies. But Barnes performance was horrendous. I've seen it dismissed a few times on this forum "oh but it was like that for both teams." No, it wasn't. But apparently discussing referees isn't valid until it happens to your team. That's what we learnt from a few other nations.

*walks off whistling*

We haven't turned up to every WC claiming we're going to win it. That implies we were favorites to win every WC, which is not the case. Maybe some individual journos have, and have got carried away, but we can't control that. But history isn't really your thing is it? Mister Brazil-won-5-Cups-in-a-comparable amount of time. Honestly, don't mind banter but you're talking out of your ass mate.

Speaking of France, hope you enjoyed seeing a Kiwi become the youngest woman to win a golf major over there, eclipsing Morgan Pressel. It's definitely a hard life being a New Zealander. All that choking. Mostly on our cornflakes from laughing at people like you.

Who's claiming they going to win it? ... I'd say if you're are consistently ranked as the number 1 team in the world, you've probably got a fair chance, but it's knock out rugby, and anything can happen

... if there's no expectation, then how come there's so much disappointment over the results then? ... It sounds like you might care a little with all this stuff about home refs etc ;)

Regardless of whether you turn up expecting to win it, 0 from 3 is pretty much the definition of choking isn't it? ... I mean, it's an even worse record than England :D

3 finals is not choking it, have a little look at Clermont's efforts in Finals and that is choking it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh ... I just googled them ... I see what you mean :) ... maybe they should have stuck with the name Montferrand

We didn't choke. We should haven't been there in the first place. Don't change roles. NZ are the perennial chokers. Not us.

Considering our national team is not a priority + our Union and clubs don't give a ****. We're a million miles from turning our team into some ****ing national institution.
My point about the home ref has been made by many other nationalities. It was so one-sided it was laughable. That doesn't mean we went to the WC thinking we're going to win it. There is no such expectation over here.
Considering the priority given to your national team. Taking over 20 yrs (use your fingers) to win it again is laughable.

fair enough, you deserve to be arrogant; after all, now that Halfpenny is out I legitimately think you have a realistic chance of making it out of your pool.

We now have an attack minded off the cuff full back and once more revert to being underdogs don't right us off.

Oh ... ok ... I can see you have "reasons" ... i'm pretty sure if I listed reasons for NZ not achieving, then they'd be viewed as excuses ... but I digress :D

Considering France have over twice (almost three times) the number of senior players, and much more money to throw at the players; you can use your fingers and your toes to figure out who's under achieving :D

My point about, people making excuses about "home refs" is valid, if you want one sided, look at your home tournament, and the stats for penalties etc v possession, in "that match" in 2007 ... my point was that there was other factors in both matches that effected the outcomes of both matches ... maybe you just need to swallow the sour grapes, and own 2011 like we have to with 2007

Taking over 20 years to achieve zero wins isn't laughable, it's just sad

but those teams made it further in the last world cup.

and the only reason you ever beat the Wallabies is because they can't scrum. but what if all of a sudden they could? I think it might be too late to start developing another area of your game.

Nicely put.
