Where's the hype?

Will Carling was born in England

Can we get back to the HYPE anyway, instead of a boring old eligibility thing

Yes lets.
Carling by the way my mistake thought I'd read it somewhere, having checked up he was born in Bradford on Avon, mind you he did grow up as a Welsh fan back in the JPR, Gerald Gareth et al Era.

I live in NZ and support NZ. I don't think the ABs would be a 'mess' without Fekitoa, Ben Franks and Jerome Kaino.

Most of the players who have chosen to come to NZ haven't just done so in the last 2 or 3 years like they have your part of the world. They usually come through our high school system, rugby academies and have lived their youth here - which is consistent with my views about making you eligible to play for that country. We didn't poach or steal anything or anyone when some of these guys got shifted out of the island by their parents as an infant.

Apart from Anscombe and Moriarty (whose father and uncle both played for Wales) North went through the system in Wales having been brought up in Anglesey and moved south to Llandovery college and then the Scarlets.
Anyway this is boring it's just if residency is raised I will stick up for Wales, it would in reality seem that the islanders are the real losers.

Sharples to be repatriated to the Hong Kong squad!

I do not know anyone in Hong Kong other than you!

I will send you money in PaY Pal.

Huge request!

I've been abroad with work for the last 2 years unfortunately. I believe the game is free entry though! Friends are planning on going and can ask about a programme if you'd like?

My point about the home ref has been made by many other nationalities.

Its common knowledge that the world's Rugby media (particularly the British and European media) are anti-New Zealand. We have been the tall poppy for some time now, and they will find any excuse or make up any story to cut is us down, and then kick us when we fall. That is the price we have to pay for being the best in the world... just ask the Germans (Football) and the Aussies (Cricket) what its like to be on the end of a British media hate campaign.

I have seen the Setanta (yes, I know they are Irish), so called "neutral" assessment of the 2011 RWC. Neutral it is definitely not, It is totally and utterly biased in favour of the French. It focuses only only on those occasions when the referee made poor or wrong decisions that benefited New Zealand and completely ignored those mistakes that benefited France, including the biggest one, allowing Dusatoir's try which was scored after a blatant ruck offside gave them an illegal turnover of possession.

For years upon years, primarily the British media have vociferously accused us of poaching players from other countries. Now that foreign born players have become a steady talent supply stream for European National Rugby teams, the very same British media has gone very quiet on the subject. I wonder why that is?

...It was so one-sided it was laughable.

Yeah, that'll be why Joubert allowed France to score their only try from a blatant ruck offside, and gave them two kickable penalties to win the game which your two goal-kickers missed.

If you do not mind !

Perhaps it was necessary to send a private message.

If there is anything you need from Russia then write to me.

@FrenchFan
Pretty much everything you bitterly tried to ramble about was wrong starting with your Brazil comparison, to going on talking about how many teams have won it in the pro era, so basically everything you have said or attempted to say is credit-less. Anyway, I hope to see you guys in the QFs, that's if you can get past the now mountainous challenge that Italy is for you now, I think in the last 5 games you have a 3-2 record against them? Good luck bud.

I have to disagree, at least certainly in the English media. The England team are constantly being compared to the all blacks as a bench mark of where people want us to be. You'll often see a piece suggesting something which the All blacks do much better than england, and how england can improve in order to match them in that area. Most journalists are hugely complementary, and give the team its rightful praise.

.

Probably a bit like the hate campaigns the Lions have everytime they tour NZ or Aus, and wasnt it a Kiwi reporter that called Wales the village idiots of rugby? and what about the critism levelled at the minnows in 2011 because they were playing a limited game plan and not scoring enough tries? Gregor Paul I think the Kiwi reporter was called.

Dont cry about the behaviour of the British media which is largely in admiration of the All Blacks when your own press core is about the most partisan one in world rugby.

I'm genuinely amazed that people think the British(/European) media aren't huge All Blacks fan boys.
I wouldn't base your opinion on cherry picked articles posted on social media to garner outrage.

Out of the 6 pundits in the Times today, 4 backed NZ to win. The other two backed Aus and SA. Almost all were ex-players etc who have gone on to say that the All Blacks are some of the worlds finest.

The issue with being the best is you end up getting discussed more so there will obviously be more column inches dedicated to weaknesses. I'd love for ONE positive Scottish piece written though. It's all a bit damning for us (quite rightfully).

If anyone believes Northern Hemisphere media are biased against NZ, that is complete rubbish.

We admire NZ and the rugby culture, the way they play the game and the hundreds of top quality players the system produces yearly.

Everyone rates themselves against NZ.

Who's the bald ugly sports journo in England? Think he's an ex-player, Brian Moore I think? He hates the All Blacks. He made a World 15 last year and only have 1 All Black in it, Savea.

There is no hype; merely ignorance, prejudice and whatabouttery.

I might become a hermit for the duration of the tournament.

Honestly mate, all valid points, but I wouldn't even give him the steam off my p'iss. He's not producing fun banter, he's just making things up, denying facts and living in his own little world.

Personally I can't wait to see how the 'group of death' will play out, I think Aussie and England will go through. The England vs Australia game is going to be huge. Actually every fixture with either of those 3 playing will be huge. I really wish England vs Wales/Aussie was the opener. Watch the Fijians though, I think they might pick up a few injuries in that game.

Brian Moore hates everyone.

Also, I'm going to point out that searching Google, the Telegraph (i.e. paper he writes for) and this forum finds no mention of this World XV, so I doubt it actually exists. May be confusing it with Mick Cleary's ridiculous World XV last year from the same paper, only had Aaron Smith from the ABs.

The feeling is mutual.
