Where's the hype?

New Zealand are fair better at rugby than Brazil are at football. There is no comparison in football to the all blacks

Not true. Brazil won 5 WCups, the AB just about managed 2 - the last one with a home ref.
They choked the other 5.

Not that I give a ***** about this stupid argument, but I'll put my 2 cents in. The Rugby World Cup started in 1987 the Football World Cup back in the 1920's or what ever, it's nearly 100 years old where as the Rugby World Cup is only 28 years old. Barely a quarter of the time the Football World Cups been around, so that point you made is ruled stupid. Secondly if you're going to make claims like that then should we look at the 2007 QF and blame Wayne Barnes for your win against us.

Either way what you said is stupid and bitter. A team that loses to Tonga does not deserve to win the RWC anyway.

Dumb point.

The All Blacks have a better overall win %. The ref was South African who penalised the All Blacks plenty of times - France just had useless kickers.

Brazil has won 2 world cups since 1987 - as have the All Blacks.

The idea that France were hard done by in that final is just a rubbish myth that needs to stop tbh. You guys got away with a fair bit, including eye raking McCaw on the ground where went unpunished and unnoticed. Yellow card for sure, if not a red.

There's just a lot wrong with this statement. Your definition of choke (we weren't favorites in every single one of the World Cups). Even the fact that you think that all you need to be the best is win a knock out tournament every few years. I'm not saying World Cups don't matter, but they aren't reflective of advanced rugby training systems, consistency and not just 'patches' of form, dynasties built up over a long period of time through sustained results both on and off the field.

Also as Nick pointed out - yeah Brazil has won more golden trophies. That's because their tournament has been running longer. Genius.

The only RWC we choked at was in 2007, Wayne Barnes can get an honorable mention here as well. The rest of the time the best team won and we were sick in 1995 and SA rose to the massive home advantage they had, Ellis Park is their Eden Park.

in fact 1987 win was amateur era. In the pro era the AB have but won it once - and with a home ref. For a nation that's put its national team on a pedestal it's not a great return.

Isn't the only football world cup you won in France? Also you haven't won a RWC, so where does that leave France with its 60m population or what ever vs a country of 4.5m, it's pretty laughable really how bad you are at everything in comparison.

We get it, you don't like Barnes :p

but I'm not comparing anything. You are. And you guys suck at football anyway.

We haven't made our national team into a near-like institution that consistently chokes.

Wrong. SA have won it twice in the pro era 1995 and 2007.

Wrong.

During the 1995 RWC the sport had not yet turned professional - it was the success of that tournament which helped lead rugby to professionalism later that year. Try fact checking..

No problem. It's not very important. And it doesn't change anything about my above point.

One WC win over the entire pro era for a nation that's put its national team on a pedestal is not a great return.

If NZ don't win the World Cup, it will be down to referee'in obviously.

And are the worlds best nation, so the World Cup is irrelevant and meaningless.

*walks off whistling*

Or they were ill, or they were injured it's always something.

Haha ... yes, and if we win, it will obviously be because of some refereeing bias towards us ;)

... I know that most of these remarks are tongue in cheek, but I'm pretty sure that any supporter of any team can find something other than that their team was outplayed on the day, to "excuse" their teams performance.
