Good weekend in Europe for the English sides - Saints the only battering and they're from the East Midlands so they're barely human let alone English
Good to see the English sides having a dig in Europe again. I’ve watched a couple of games but, even though there’s been some great rugby this weekend, I can’t pretend I’m as invested in the Heineken (yes I still call it that!) as I used to be. It’s doubtless different if you support one of the clubs involved - but personally, the worry about key players for England getting injured before the 6N kinda overshadows these games. I’d much rather England win a Slam this year than an English club win the Champions Cup. FWIW, I think UBB might retain it, they’re great to watch. Anyone bar Leinster winning it and I’ll be pretty happy,

Or La Rochelle...

Saturday got me a little bit excited for our chances. Would still have us as 2nd favourites to whoever is strongest between Toulouse and UBB in 5 months time but I wouldn't fear a trip to Glasgow in the semi or Bath / Saints / La Rochelle in a QF*.

Scraping a win that we didn't really deserve and doing it without 2nd to 4th choice props is gritty. With a selection of our props, and Snyman, Ringrose, Osborne, Keenan and Jimmy O'Brien to return we should only get better and more free scoring.

Harry Byrne is a 10 that stamps himself on games, and while not in the same league we haven't had that from our playmaker since Sexton. Meanwhile, the competition seems to be driving SP on a lot, his last two performances have been steadier than I've seen from him, small sample size but hopefully it continues.

8 wins in a row now and building. Just different enough from the last few to make sure the choke will still hurt...

*No idea how possible those fixtures are but they're the worst draws I could think of that don't include the aforementioned French sides. I'm also taking Bayonne for granted a bit in this post which I won't be come Saturday, that's a tough fixture.

Bit weird to say, as he played very well but has Penaud lost a yard of pace? Hard to tell with him as he rarely looks arsed running at full pelt.
