What is an Emo?

Just because you listen to emo music does not make yourself a 'emo' yourself. I listen to christian music and I am not a christian.

Good bands (bands I like anyway) branded with the emo tag:

Emery
http://www.purevolume.com/emery

Dead Poetic
http://www.purevolume.com/deadpoetic

Thrice
http://www.purevolume.com/thrice

Scary Kids Scaring Kids
http://www.purevolume.com/scarykidsscaringkids

Armour For Sleep
http://www.purevolume.com/armorforsleep

And also, obviously BFMV.
All great bands. I see we share a similar taste in music.

I don't see how you can enjoy someone singing about that bullsh*t either. rolleyes.gif[/b]

Oi! I am going to see them at the NEC in November thank you very much... :rahh:

Not a massive fan but looking forward to it quite a tad.

If you saw my bolt audio you wouldn't just see emo music, you would see music of the metal genre also. Some lighter than other but I am working on getting some awsome tunes together and up there, I wanted to create a bit of variance.

Although this is one of my favourite tracks/artists...

Curling up in a ball than writing notes in a dark room doesn't solve those problems, nor does simply making your excuse "You don't understand me".
Couldn't agree more, a very true statement :bravo: As for depressing songs, emo music isn't just like that. Anyone heard November Rain by Guns 'N Roses? Incredible! Led Zeppelin have a few sad songs as well, like Ten Years Gone, both these songs are awesome :D but back to the point, I really think that most of these emos are simply misguided kids, they don't know how to act or who to turn to so they follow large crowds of people who all dress the same and listen to the same music. Its very rare that people who have horrible childhoods (like described earlier) become emo. Most emos are posers.

Thats my favourite GnR's track of all time and I still love hearing it and jammin along, I love the solo that seems so full of meaning etc.

I must admit some emo's are just a social gathering but I do know some genuine depressed emo's, its not nice because they leave a lasting effect on you sometimes.

slipknot are emos im masks.

seriously though, emo and metal? what is this? www.poser.com ?

not saying i am, as i am only a apprentance, but to become a rock guru, you have to listen to everything from the beatles onwards. out of all the metalers, i would say 80% of them are posers. looking for acoustic cuts, live cds, rare songs is what i do at cd stores. if your paying anything over $20-25 for cd your getting ripped off. legends are selling at $15 such as peter framton. i got phill collins live cd yesterday. $5.

what im trying to say, is that you have emo music, then metal. people who know music know that its just one big 13yr old poser fest.

Slipknot are not emo, you are only saying that because you don't like them, grow up.

Well that just sounds try hard to me. You are trying to get rare/live cds, in my view to 'impress' people with your cd collection. Don't know why you would buy those cds. Live audio tracks hardly ever sound as good as the studio version, accoustic is only good when the song was originally made to be accoustic and rare tracks are usually rare because they were average and only good enough to make the B-sides.

Oh yeah and Slipknot are ghey. Why on earth do they wear those stupid arse masks?

or because it shows them for what they are.

the real reason why i like rarties, live cuts and b-sides is because its not about making the money, its about the music. often they bring mates from other bands to play with them etc. its great.

in anycase, if you could say listening to artists like pink floyd, led zeppelin, peter frampton, phill collins, metallica (and the list goes on) on studio format, rather than live - you havent even lived yet.

Live band > Studio recording
Being there live or dvds are better then studio recording, but audio tracks of live shows are never as good.

If you are into Slipknot then I would seriousley recommend their 9.0 live album, I really think its the best thing they have done. And their Disasterpeices DVD is totally awsome and I never get bored of it.

A Person who thinks he's cool because he listiens to some pasty white farmboys from Iowa who think they are hard because they wear masks and scream like little *****es) telling someone to grow up. HOW IRNOIC!!!.

And speaking of Live stuff... I can't recommened Led Zeppelins DVD enough (I don't know what its called, its the one with the desert on the cover).

And B-Sides are awesome... mostly because thats where the best covers are - like Foo Fighters doing Baker Street.

Like I said, your only saying that because you don't have an interest in them!
