Wales v South Africa - 23/11/2024 (17.40)

I'd put Dai Young in the Tandy category to be honest. A bit uninspiring but I agree that we may target an up and comer like a ROG (though he would be expensive)

I still think Jospeh makes great sense. Roughly same age as Gatland 10 years ago when he was good, great experience, plays good rugby, used to dealing with a squad without great front 5 players, makes teams competitive and would be relatively cheap.
I doubt ROG will go amywhere until 2027. He's contracted until then and smart enough* to only take a role at the start of a new cycle I reckon.

*Going to say 10 hail marys for this.

He was in the press really recently saying he wouldn't leave La Rochelle before his contract is up for any offer from anyone (he was asked if he's going to Munster)

Money talks but I doubt Wales is gonna be one that turns his head - realistically the only thing that'd give him thought is if Farrell stood down

That's shockingly low. I would expect the England Soccer coach to be on at least $15 million.
This coming from a country that has a "World Series" nobody outside America is allowed to play in.

Besides I'm sure, even in America, coaches are paid a fraction of the star players.

I don't pay much attention to other sports outside of football, but for this season Patrick Mahomes is set to make around $50 million and Head Coach Andy Reid will make $20 million. So, yes, the star player is paid more.

However, in college sports, the coach makes substantially more. The highest paid college football coach makes $13 million and his star player makes around $4 million.

A lot of the Welsh rugby podcasts seem obsessed with getting Pat Lam and the WOL as well. That i don't get.

It's coz he once said he'd love to coach Wales.

And we're sad and desperate.

Edit: I like Lam for what it's worth and would take him if it was doable but he's on big money isn't he.

Imagine being at Uni at getting $4mil a year. Kinda almost defeats the whole point of going to university doesn't it.

Yeah I think it was rumoured to be around 800k. No idea if that's even close tbh

Jamie Roberts saying Gatland will be here next week. I hope this isn't some genuine inside info he has now he's on the board.

I still think if there is 20k plus empty seats on Saturday then he'll go. He has to.
