Wales v Australia - 17/11/2024 (16.10)

Booth isn't an international quality head coach for me, possibly a forwards coach though. Osprsys not been great this season, and despite battling well last season, weren't a very rounded team.

Franco Smith would do me nicely.

Full clear out needed though, with the new head coach allowed to pick his backroom team. Not sure I'd want any of the current lot to stay, especially not Humphreys, Howley and King. Forshaw not really worked either, with our defense a little all over the place systemically!

I like the look of Adam Jones, but I'd prefer him to stay in club rugby for longer first, no rush! We've already stunted too many young promising coaches by promoting them to HC roles at a region, or assistant coach with Wales too soon, e.g. Stephen Jones.

I always kind of wanted Jamie Joseph due to the fact he's got experience getting a team (with not exactly a prolific front row) to be competitive. And playing some great stuff as well. Didn't he take some DoF job for the Highlanders or something. I wonder if he'd do it for a couple of grand a month and free pork scratchings.

I would also do so it at that price but the savings might be negated by the amount of Johnny Sexton tape I'd need the analysts to sort out for the "see and do" video sessions each day.

If we can offer Gatland money I imagine a lot of people will be interested. Never going to happen though.
I know it's a bit simplistic and there's a hell of a lot more costs. But if Wales are losing 10-20k in tickets sales a game there probably losing around 2 million in ticket sales over three games based on £65 a pop.

I guess the Six nations ticket sales will be the big one. Fan apathy is just as likely to cause further problems down the line.

I would be ******* loving it if this was England to be fair.

Mind you, I think a lot of that enjoyment would be because I would know, given their resources and player pool etc, that they would be back so it would be a enjoy it while it lasts kind of thing

With Wales it's kinda like you're prodding their lifeless body wondering if they're going to regain consciousness. If you said to me England rugby would fold and basically never return that would make me extremely sad I think
This isn't an issue unique to Wales. Australian rugby, despite a couple of wins, is still on its knees financially. We have a miniscule TV deal which is about to expire and ongoing litigation which severely diminishes our negotiating position. Popularity and playing stocks are plummeting across the board.

I'd say its not even an issue unique to Aus and Wales. Hence the need for a bit of a shake up from the top.

The resurgence of Australia plus a lions tour hopefully will lift ticket sales and spur a decent TV deal. A good performance in the rugby championship will be necessary of course.
