Yes that is very strangeWales now at 22/1. The Hanekom debut is salt in the wounds. Don't know why he has chosen the Boks over Cymru :-(
To be fair it's been coming for a while. Getting to this point was clearly avoidable but the general malaise of Welsh rugby less so.You Welsh lot seriously need to stop 1 upping us. How are you in a bigger mess replacing your HC than us? WRU have ****** up big time.
Gats had the WRU by the short hairs after they fired Pivac. He leveraged the England offer to get a boatload of cash.Gatland confirmed there is no release clause in his contract that kicks in after the 6N or any clause at all.
You couldn't make this **** up.
That, along with the fact he seems defiant now and saying he's not resigning this is a big problem. I'd still like to see Gatland moved upstairs. ****, as this point I'd be over the moon if we sacked Nigel Walker and replaced him with Gats. I think Gats' ego would get in the way, though.
Maybe it's all bluster on Gatlands part and he's just playing some mind games with the WRU. You'd think 50 odd thousand turning up to watch another 50 plus point loss will surely force their hand, though. Break clause or no break clause.
The short answer to this is yes of course they do. Whilst it will be expensive the WRU have the financial ability to release him and pay someone at that level. The harder question is who might want to take the job given the obvious systemic issues at most levels.Gats had the WRU by the short hairs after they fired Pivac. He leveraged the England offer to get a boatload of cash.
Even if the WRU fires him, do they have the $$ to go get a respected coach? I doubt it. It's Gats or some no name with minimal international experience.
The RFU and England are doing ok with coaches with no international experience............................The short answer to this is yes of course they do. Whilst it will be expensive the WRU have the financial ability to release him and pay someone at that level. The harder question is who might want to take the job given the obvious systemic issues at most levels.
Money talks. If we're offering Gatland money (£600k pa) you'll have people queuing up.The short answer to this is yes of course they do.
