What's the point?. Fair play to the Welsh fans that actually turn up to this one. SA will play their 2nds or 3rds and still put up a cricket score.
OuchDon't be silly. We're going to get bent over and severely rogered with no lube. We might keep it close for a bit knowing it's Gatlands last game but I can't see that lasting longer than the first 20/30 mins at best.
As I say, the only thing is that seeing as it's Gatlands last game I can see there being extra emotion from the players but that will only buy us 10 mins or so.I was going to back Wales for this one then I saw the SA team and bench. I'll support @Welsh Exile this is going to hurt.
The days of Wales matching up well against SA are probably long gone.
Imagine having Marx, Synman and Etzebeth coming on fresh at 60 min.Happy for Hanekom to make his debut. He probably would have made a 23 earlier if not injured. I do however hope there isn't *too* much tinkering.
Yes, we do have some depth in quality but I believe it is to some extent overblown and I can really see a beleaguered Welsh side put us under immense pressure- it certainly wouldn't be the first time a less than fancied Wales pushes us all the way or get one over us.
Edit: Oh, I see the team has already been announced;
5 Aphelele Fassi, 14 Cheslin Kolbe, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse, 10 Jordan Hendrikse, 9 Jaden Hendrikse, 8 Jasper Wiese, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 6 Siya Kolisi (c), 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Jean Kleyn, 3 Thomas du Toit, 2 Johan Grobbelaar, 1 Ox Nche.
Subs: 16 Malcolm Marx, 17 Gerhard Steenekamp, 18 Vincent Koch, 19 Eben Etzebeth, 20 RG Snyman, 21 Cameron Hanekom, 22 Cobus Reinach, 23 Handre Pollard.
Ja, thankfully more of a mix than a full on B-side.
They're lucky Beard is injured.Imagine having Marx, Synman and Etzebeth coming on fresh at 60 min.
They're lucky Beard is injured.
He's not even the best lock at the Ospreys. Though, to be fair, I value Beard a lot more at regional level. Good club player.Indeed. He's by far the best current Welsh player. Although he still pales in comparison to the locks of South Africa.
