TRF's 2014 FIFA World Cup

oké, ze moment of trooss tonight for France...what do zeez guys av in zeir champagne filled bellies...

Germany is up against Algeria...

I'm going for a 3-0 victory to the Germans! May the world's rivers flow with Oktoberfest cheer, Beer, and girls with big boobs and very short Laderhosen!

Regarding who is favourite to go all the way, this is the first time that i can remember (watching since 1990 World Cup) that there is not one clear favourite. Prior to the WC Spain would have been the main contender due to having the most talent in their squad, but since they went out there isn't an obvious contender.

Brazil; one of the weakest attacks they have ever had. Neymar and that's it. World class defence.
Argentina; weak central midfield and central defence. Awesome attacking trio in Messi, Aguero, Di Maria.
Holland; very average defence and central midfield (Kevin Strootman injury was a big loss). Class attacking trio of Robben, Van Persie, Sneijder
Germany; probably the best all round team left, no major weakness, but, lack being outstanding in any one area of the field...in a close game cant think of a player who can produce something from nothing.
Colombia; similar to Germany in having no major weak areas, but so much rests on James Rodriguez.
France; again not oustanding in any one area, team is performing better than most expected especially without their best player Ribery

I don't wanna put Belgium as a contender just yet as they haven't looked convincing, plus they haven't shown much in attack and lack a top striker.

champagne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:p
oh...dear. How very inappropriate of you gaston...
Well indeed champagne prevailed, and the European African team beat the African African team. Only just...if I can afford to say so.
This is a very good result for France. Dealt with tremendous Nigerian pressure and controlled the periods we were subjected to their athletic superiority and pure constant pressure, managed to create a ton of opportunities, and scored on about 1 1/2 of them. Really, we should have scored 3.
Bring the schleu ! I hope they massacre Algeria with relentless and torturous ardor. Yeah, that bad.

Still 0-0 but I'm enjoying Germany - Algeria.
Basically constant length of the field counter attacking. Algeria's goalkeeper is keeping them in this, while their inability to take a shot or cross with any level of accuracy is keeping Germany in it :p

This has been a smashing game. Who says you can't have a great 0-0?

Wow what a game, Algeria just wouldn't go away, better team won but credit to the Algae's for hanging in. Germany vs. France could be a cracker.

Tonight shows why I hate negative teams like Chelsea. Algeria were expected to be easily disposed of and despite that they played to win. Great game

Algeria were top tonight. Thank goodness and all things sacred and holy they didn't win though because then they'd be facing France, which would result in the utter destruction of France (the actual country), whether they'd win or lose.
Germany face France as favorites in the 1/4F, but with a few flaws exposed along ze wayy...

WOW!! Imagine that, thousands and thousands of burning cars in the night of Paris; that would be a dantesque spectacle.

errr...dude, you've obviously got a beef with France :D now just come out and state your complaints about my nation, and evacuate, and maybe we can move forward. I mean how did the destruction of a nation through burning metal and shrapnel turn into a lyrical scenery of romantic proportions again ?!! :p

I pick the upset over Belgium tonight, gingerly not resoundingly but I'll go with Team USA. And Argentina should get rid of the Swiss semi-convincingly, like 2-0 type..

Got a bet, an ambitious one admittedly, on an Argie 3-1 win and a US 2-1 win double at 189/1. Possible winnings best bart of 900 quidaroonies.

USA!USA!USA!

Very ambitious indeed. But I like Belgium, I have them for a 3-2 victory tonight, even if they are going to play without Vermaelen and Kompany...

Not too shabby at all! Might look into that myself!

Was on Skybet

Also put one on a Messi hattrick, if all goes well tonight I will have paid for my Xbox One and all the games I want for the year.

So of course it'll crash and burn within the first 25 minutes

where's the German guy on this website when you need em ?! I wanna do the silly tough guy talk with a schleu, where they at now ?!!

Germans take forever to mount an attack and have shown twice already they're in excruciating trouble against African teams (Ghana, Algeria) and their sheer athleticism. They've got one insanely good goal-keeper, who totally gets MOTM for me in that 1/8F, but struggle against teams with athleticism and pure speed. France are attack-minded enough and possess the technical control necessary to oust them from the WC. Plus Germany is coming off a 5hour match that, again, has exposed a number of things about them...
Hopefully Deschamps identifies them and has France play the necessary kind of ball to get us closer to the promised land. We definitely can beat them, but they've got to be the favorites by all accounts.
