TRF EA Rugby '06 NZ Tournament

yeah i have scored tries like that against the ai, its funny to watch. also some deep kicks i have scored off when the ai dives for the ball and just goes around it. all i needed to do was pick it up and fall over the line thats cool.

but sometimes if you kick at goal you can intentionaly hit the post gather the ball and score, if you are close enough that is, i have done that a few times when i needed to, against the ai though

some setplays can be done well just practice really :D

I've seen that trick employed by dobrien7, and it's bascially outlawed in our comps. Thanks for bringing it up Danny. :bravo:
Haha yep I'm the 'Can you get away with it' guinea pig. That's probably fair enough though :p

The only other one is head highs, but then you do get penalised for some so I suppose it's just up to the individual...

I too agree about the penalty forceback cheap.....it should be banned.

I am at odds about wind being at medium for some games. The reason I say this is that if there is a draw on comp points and there is a countback to see points for and against......someone who played a game where the wind was set easier and managed to convert all their kicks may edge out someone who had their wind at strong and missed one kick......I say if the wind is meant to be one way then it should stay that way for all games as the goal kicking seriously changes with all the variables added......and goal kicking is points...

...and is ultimately what wins tight games, and potentially therefore the whole thing.

Wind = Max

Footnote - Us southern boys have narrowed down to an early flight Friday and leave mid avo Sunday, shall be booking tickets any day now :D

Oh what! Cheapest we can get is about $300 from Dunedin...

What about Fends , steps , and shoulder barges, do these work for you guys in MP? Ive found that a human controlling a defender seems to disable shoulder charges and fends, but steps still work but only if the defender is running sideways? any tips?

I just want to know if im wasting my time trying to do them in MP. I dont get to play much so I need some tips. I dont think theres any danger of me gaining any advantage. I hoped they would all work, gives u a chance to beat the fullback one on one now and then.

They all seem to have slightly different timing required, but do work (of course, both side-steps timings are the same).

Human contolled players do get fended, stepped, barged.......it all happens.

The key is knowing how your oppponent defends in certain situations (like fullback one on one)....smother, high, or dive tackle.....then do the required move to overide it.......

Good Luck!

So GG, you reckon this comp will be fair with the rules as they are currently shaping up?

Yeah it all looks good at the moment.....

.....ghood that this comp is a wee way off as I know for sure that I'm good....but not totally confident good.....

...so all this time will be needed to prepare as best as we can.

I heard that the first prize was an Xbox 360

I wish! I'd accept it gratefully!

Just had holidays approved, as have dobrien7 and Andrew Horton (The resident one post wonder).

Andrew is a handy player with a weird set of tactics that pay off for him half the time with dobrien, but he hardly ever beats me. Could be an outsider, as at Lomu's he always was a third-string player who turned into a tough competitor in tournaments.

Actually come to think of it, I MUST play you at Lomu's. B)

Did I just say play and not beat? I must actually respect you.

Lomu?????

Haha......I would need a week to get my game back on with that one....never thought I would see the day when lomu was over...

OMG!!!! THE FACT THAT WE NO LONGER REFER BACK TO LOMU MEANS.....LOMU IS TRULY OVER!!!!!

From what little MP I hav played of rugby 06 I agree that lomu is no longer MP king. This is a great thing, and the future of rugby gaming is looking good.

if ea see's this...they might implement the MP option on fifa 06...that party play or something like that...

but anyhoo...i just bought myself a new rugby 06 copy and still have my south african touch!

my strategy....ruck....pass...pass...pass..HABANA!....run...try!
