TRF EA Rugby '06 NZ Tournament

Thoughts from me.....

Number of competitors set and closed off. (maybe put a quick registration paper together)

Create the draw

Team choice (perhaps limit to super 14 and european ONLY)
Could have coin toss for team choice if both players want the same team.

Daily timeframe of matches (fri night, sat day, sun morn etc)

Bonus points (use or not use)
Points for wins and draws

Default Teams (no stat changes)
Half lengths
Match conditions

I think we should all put in $10 to cover competition costs (trophy, woosaah's lounge and power usage)

And the BYO and BBQ sounds like a goer.

Just my 2c

Count me in for the tourney - and most likely spawn(trf member) too, we both live in Upper Hutt so about 10min drive to Woosahs house. When will the finalised format be placed and entries closed?
I think entries will still be valid right up until big Woos' says that he can't accomodate any more people.

The more the merrier I say.

I'm very sure that the format used will most likely be Xbox.

I've tried to edit my post on page one to update the players list but can't for some reason.

Will try again at home.

Welcome to the forum anyway, Danny Bullen and Spawn. [Whoops. Edit that, just noticed you've been about a while!]

Cheers.

Date is 30th Sept - 1st Oct. No objections?

only reason for closing the entries off would be so that there is time to put a draw together.

Im all for the more the merrier but if we set a entry closeoff date then those whom are humming and harring will have to decide yes or no.
Then we will have a confirmed number of competitors and then the likes of davidson could work his magic into a cool draw layout etc.

Good point actually. At work at the moment, so can't talk about it much, but it's good to have another couple of contestants.

well we could have it open for 2 weeks b4 the torny? plenty of time for new members to join

Closing it off early can be disastrous as most people I feel would sign up the week it was happening....

...also a draw is easy to do.....most of the guys have done them before....I have draw templates already saved on my laptop.

....on the day you may find some people already registered may not turn up...s well as some who weren't turning up....

....so a draw should be kept till the time it is to play...most sports organises for cup events say that nothing is ever finalised until the time of the event.

We can finalise on rules though....that is one thing that doesn't need adjustments on the day.

...and an update on my progress......well our best player went to another crews house and lost to them.....far out!!!! Talk about a long way to go with the learing curve....I may go join another crew and start playing with them!!!!

i need a crew to start playing against, anyone in the greater wellingto region want to come over for a pre-torny saturday week, projector and all??? (looking at danny :p)

Yes Woosah......the learning curve for multiplayer is long and getting steeper every week (we are discovering). Pretty much if you want to win at least one game at TRF tourny....you need to get trainers to help you.

For instance...at the moment we are practicing the.....ummmm.......er....I better shutup :p

CA, any news on the trophy? we gonna have a trophy to be contested every year (we can)

Yeah mate count me in.
As the naked man????

Nah jokes...Spawn......will be great to have you in the tournament! :bravo:

Agree leave entry open as long as possible, as if you bring your laptop Gay-guy the draw can be a living one that is finalised the Friday night for example. Us Invers entrants will be booking a big bird tomorrow night, so Septober it is, 30th till the 1st.

I think so.....

...those who may have wanted a different date needed to speak up.....but no one really argued strongly for another alternative (cept EVOL though atm it looks like he can't make any of the dates proposed) and we did decide that it would have been finalised last week....I think the main ones pushing for this comp (you, CAI, woosah, and me) are happy for that particular weekend.

Well, as the self-appointed executives of the 1st Annual TRF EA Rugby 2006 Xbox Challenge, I say we (us 4 above) lock-in Eddie that date which lets others know for sure that's when it is.

So then it's sorting out accommodation for us, as we'll do flights tomorrow eg someones place or cheap hotel/backpackers somewhere nearby Woosaah's...

Then it'd be onto sorting out format eg length of halves etc, which one of us could just post a list of variables and their preference, to which we'll poke holes at and establish a common ground for all, including teams, modification if at all of players stats through Woosaah.

Once everything is finalised and it's onto hard out practice for the next few months :p , we should have a separate thread stating the particulars, rules to abide by etc for new fish to latch onto, then it's just see you in Wellington in Septober...

Phew, we're a wee way off that yet, but getting there steadily :D

Well it looks like I may be training in or flying in....

I am happy to stay with the South Island crew at a backpackers or whatever it is you guys have in mind......it will be good bonding a we can do all sorts of other stuff.

I may still be tempted to hire a van....only cos I do not drink and can be a "sober" driver when he hit the clubs to get our women for the night (no sharing aloud  )...and I know from the days when I used to drink there is no better buzz than cruising around at night seeing the sights, drinking,, and SAFE in the knowledge that the driver is sober to the days....

Cool so 30 September and 01 October it is.

My thoughts on rules:

Super 14 and European teams only.
If both players want the same team then they toss a coin and winner chooses.

Location: RANDOM
Wind: Medium
Half Length: 10mins
Difficulty: Elite

Camera View: SIDE
knockons: DEFAULT
injuries: DEFAULT
Fatigue: DEFAULT
Drop goals: NORMAL

What else do we need to contemplate...

I love this...except for wind.....more variables if it is maximum.

I understand the "10 min" half thing cos sometime a 5 minute game does not give much of an opportunity to come back if you lose first momentum. So I am with you on this....we will also have 2 or 3 games running at once so it shuld be good.

S14/Euro comp is good with toin coss option. However maybe we can have 2 comps....an international one going as well.

Yep wind on Max is good idea.

I reckon we have the Super14/European comp and then once playoffs start - all those who are knocked out can play in a international comp. Gives us something to do.

Won't playoffs just be 3 games? Semis and final?

I'm sure during this time those who are out can go and get some strippers.......hehehe
