............sometimes we play "world clubs"...some of the Euro teams are fantastic against the S14 teams.

Agree that it should be the top Euro Clubs vs top S14 teams, maybe even adding a middle of the road international team, say Argentina?
This is taking too much of a scatter-gun approach to things. We need a definitive format.

International teams, or Super 14, or Euro teams (which seeing as this is held in NZ don't make much sense), one of these comps.

Then when we decide which comp, we need to work out how we will ensure an even level of teams.

If it becomes an absolute mix of clubs and international teams, we'll have serious disagreement about the reasons people won/lost. "He had the better team" etc.

If we don't decide on a format, we'll get no-where. [/b]
I concur.....

Or we can have TWO comps.......clubs...the International.

I think all the games should be first choice second choice done twice rather than home and away with the same 2 clubs. This is the format that was done in 91-92 at the Street fighter 2 comps. Someone would choose a character first then the other person in the next game would have first chopice.....irrespective of the character chosen.

Sounds promising. With the international being the premier comp?

The only real arguing point for people seems to be first-five, maybe Woosaah could level out, only that position? I'm wanting to keep it all as complication free as possible, but that does seem to be a sticking point.

Carter, Wilkinson, etc, they can be a massive advantage, but lets not go tinkering with everything. To a certain point, if your that good, you'll win through.

I dunno. Maybe we should vote on it? Lets hear what others think.

Maybe just reducing their exagerated punts would do, maybe drop a couple of points off goal kicking stats? Are they the only two factors in question?

For me yes, but this is all very democratic, so lets see what Kaftka and Ceejay and the others think as well.

i think for goal kicking should leave it alone it wont make that much difference.

for punting that is different as people have tried dropping the stats and it doesnt make much diference

Is there anything you can do to lower the distance from, in particular, Carter, Wilkinson and Henson?

With your Rugamatic editor?

Both those guys kicking, though impressive, is not the be all end all of a game. If the ball goes out then it is your throw in to the lineout....no big deal. Possession is more improtant than territory. A good player can retain possession all the way to the other side without kicking.

BTW......My form is improving because the guy who kicks my ass has told me a few of his "secrets"

thats just it he doesnt want a fair comp, he wants to beat us all down :)

probably will 2

Intriguing...

I wish I was as good at the game as you.... I wish I had no life.

Let the trash talking begin!

I use R3 to retain possesion, but it dosent really work, in multiplayer if i run in my own half, i usually get turned within two phases. So they just kick it to me until im frustrated and run it at them, they turn it over and score.

Ceejay I think you'll benefit the most from this tourney. You sound like one of those players who's almost got it all together, but just needs to brush up on a few things.

One thing I've discovered, (might already have been covered) is that R3 is better deployed on defence as a good way to slow down the ball so you can position your defence better, although if you hold it down too long then you'll be penalised.

Your right R3 on attack doesn't work too well.

On attack, you are sometimes better to take your finger off sprint when charging through an area of the field with more than 1 defensive player close by. Otherwise you distance yourself from your forwards and are usually turned over straight away. Also, as your player goes down in the tackle, its a good idea to press the thumbstick firmly in the direction of your support. I've found this decreases the chance of a turnover better than holding R3.

what i tend to use the r3 button for is when i have just turned the ball over at the breakdown i just hold it in and make it unplayable and i get the scrum feed

It's great.......when it works.

That works about 1 in every 3 times. Which is worth a go, but then penalites happen a bit too.

so is there going to be 7 people coming? (including me even though i cant technically do that since i am already here)

or has the first page not been updated?

I'm coming though I have yet to decide if I should change my plans to train/bus/ or plane as opposed o the van....

Count me in for the tourney - and most likely spawn(trf member) too, we both live in Upper Hutt so about 10min drive to Woosahs house. When will the finalised format be placed and entries closed?
