Dobrien7 beat me last night in a training match 28-14. I had the Highlanders and he had the Bulls.

The lineups were completely different to their normal ones, as we organised a new player draft last weekend and I had to manually alter all the sides in Squad management! We took turns picking anyone we liked from the Super 14 till it was finished! Everyone had two teams to pick.

After that we allowed each person to pick some European draft players.

For the weaker players, their new Super 14 franchises were allowed 1 star player and 1 non-star player, the medium level players were allowed 2 non-star players, and the better players were allowed 1 non-star player.

We were allowed to keep one player from our original squads.

My new lineup (for Highlanders) is:

1. B.Botha (SAF)
2. T.Willis (NZL)
3. S.Tomlins (NZL - created player, one of my mates)
4. C.Jack (NZL)
5. B.Botha (SAF)
6. C.Van Rensburg (SAF)
7. R.Thorne (NZL)
8. S. Lauaki (NZL)
9. C.Whittaker (AUS)
10. S.Larkham (AUS)
11. R. Kinikinilau (NZL)
12. M.Joubert (SAF)
13. R.Tipoki (NZL)
14 J.Wilson (NZL - recreated Jeff Wilson. Overall stat 92)
15 M.Burke (AUS)

My other team is the Cheetahs.

whoever wins this tournament is going to be such an eat arse on this forum. they'll have unlimited bragging rights, it'll be phat though meeting some of these mysterious ppl on here lol..

Sweet as Woosaah.

We got it sorted. Dobrien is one of the better players, so could only choose one non-star euro player per each of his teams.

Can't remember who he got tho.

Before the end of June we have to start deciding what rules we will have for the comp.....especially with players/stats/transfers/ drafts etc......

....I imagine there will be a lot of contention on these things.

However we need to have these rules in place before the 1st of July so everyone can prepare appropriately. Once we agree then it will be all go

yep sweet as,

i can do the teams and the stats easilly so people dont have to change their starting lineup every time we start a new game, shall we have same stats for all hookers, props, flankers etc?

I think equalising players will make the games robotic.....it is the differences of players that make the games so unpredictable.....mismatches in different areas etc....strengths and weak points......different styles of play to cater for this.....and so on.

I think perhaps having no created players....imo

Reihana and Garvijosa. Is surprisingly enjoyable playing this way, although we may need to stick to certain teams in the lead up, otherwise we'll be playing ourselves out of contention.

Actually, what level are we going to play eg Super 14 and European Clubs or International teams???

GG - Yeah no created players, just stick to the teams in the game, just IMO

Woosaah - went straight to Iversens after work for 'practise'. :) That and am trialling a new amp, so kind of busy. Plus limited access at work doesn't help either :(

For the tourney I also believe the best idea is not to have created players.

One way to get round the 'unevenly rated teams' problem, is for the players to play each other twice and to switch teams at the end of the first game, so they both have had the same advantage over each other.

OR, we could have a Super 14 style comp, (with out computer teams) and have it evened out this way.

Any team rated 80 and over- no additional players

Any team between 75-79 - 1 non star Euro players added

Any team between 70-74 - 2 non star Euro players

Any team between 65-69 - 1 non star player and 1 star Euro player

Any team between 60-64 - 2 non star players and 1 star Euro players

Any team between 50-60 - 2 non star players and 2 star Euro players

The people who go as teams with the lowest rank get first pick, like a draft.

It's a great fun idea with a high probability of working. The downside is that we can't verify yet if this works to everyone's satisfaction.

I can tell you though, it is awesome fun to put, for example, Brian O'Driscoll*, Brian Habana*, Olivier Magne and maybe Brian Lima into the Cheetahs and watch them compete on level terms with the Crusaders!

If we are wanting to be able to all go as sides that currently exist in the Super 14, then we WILL have disagreement. The sides are not that even. Some will be advantaged and some disadvantaged.

Experiment for yourselves, sure it changes the Super 14. Just see how well. Ask dobrien what he reckons now we've trialed it.

It seems GREAT so far! :D :D :D

I agree with gay guy that all teams dont need to be identical, but the super 12 is far two un even. So perhaps some uro star imports to the weaker s14 teams like iverson suggested might be fun. Dan carter and wilko need to be band. Their kicking is just two good, especially in mulktiplayer, your opponent just pins you back indefinately! slowy gaining territory as you fire weak kicks back.

I agree with no created players.

That means Wilko, Carter, Montgomery and Henson are out. They are all too good at kicking. I don't mind that. ;)

Montgomery isnt, atleast not like carter. If theyre not at number ten or fullback its not so bad. I know that i struggle to beat a team that has wilkinson or carter on it. You cant take their kicks on the full.

............sometimes we play "world clubs"...some of the Euro teams are fantastic against the S14 teams.

Agree that it should be the top Euro Clubs vs top S14 teams, maybe even adding a middle of the road international team, say Argentina?

This is taking too much of a scatter-gun approach to things. We need a definitive format.

International teams, or Super 14, or Euro teams (which seeing as this is held in NZ don't make much sense), one of these comps.

Then when we decide which comp, we need to work out how we will ensure an even level of teams.

If it becomes an absolute mix of clubs and international teams, we'll have serious disagreement about the reasons people won/lost. "He had the better team" etc.

If we don't decide on a format, we'll get no-where.

Which is precisely why my next post was this...

List of acceptable teams -

Brumbies 77
Bulls 75
Crusaders 82
Hurricanes 73
Stormers 75
Waratahs 80

Biarritz 80
Burgoin 74
Leicester 79
Leinster 75
London Wasps 78
Munster 74
Paris 76
Perpignan 78
Sale 74

Argentina 80
Fiji 70 (Caucau factor)
Italy 73
Samoa 74
Scotland 74

Should be enough 'even' teams there to cover us, what does everyone think?
