For the tourney I also believe the best idea is not to have created players.
One way to get round the 'unevenly rated teams' problem, is for the players to play each other twice and to switch teams at the end of the first game, so they both have had the same advantage over each other.
OR, we could have a Super 14 style comp, (with out computer teams) and have it evened out this way.
Any team rated 80 and over- no additional players
Any team between 75-79 - 1 non star Euro players added
Any team between 70-74 - 2 non star Euro players
Any team between 65-69 - 1 non star player and 1 star Euro player
Any team between 60-64 - 2 non star players and 1 star Euro players
Any team between 50-60 - 2 non star players and 2 star Euro players
The people who go as teams with the lowest rank get first pick, like a draft.
It's a great fun idea with a high probability of working. The downside is that we can't verify yet if this works to everyone's satisfaction.
I can tell you though, it is awesome fun to put, for example, Brian O'Driscoll*, Brian Habana*, Olivier Magne and maybe Brian Lima into the Cheetahs and watch them compete on level terms with the Crusaders!
If we are wanting to be able to all go as sides that currently exist in the Super 14, then we WILL have disagreement. The sides are not that even. Some will be advantaged and some disadvantaged.
Experiment for yourselves, sure it changes the Super 14. Just see how well. Ask dobrien what he reckons now we've trialed it.
It seems GREAT so far!
