Transfers rumours

Faletau's move to Bath looking like being stymied by a classic bit of Gatland ********ishness

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/33720305

I swear Wales has the most complex rules on transfers and player contracts ever. If he isn't dual contracted, why does Gatland get to approve it?

I can understand why Gats and the Welsh management don't want players moving abroad. But until their is set in stone, 'You play in Wales or you don't play for Wales' ruling, what is wrong with Faletau playing literally over the boarder for a better team where he'll have top flight European rugby? I mean is it being seriously suggested that he'll be as a good a player if he is lining up for Newport every week than if he's at Bath?

No i think the idea is he is allowed to rule if he can play for Wales or not..

well apparently the number of wildcards increases over the next few years, so its likely gatland will hold off on it for now, then if he does want to leave next year then gatland will still be able to pick him, as he will have an extra wildcard option (as currently they are believed to be roberts and priestland, although if priestland doesnt return to form then im sure he wont be a wildcard anymore)

Cooper signed a contract with Toulon in April and wanted to backtrack to play in the Aussies VII team at Olympics.

Boudjellall raised stink and told him he wanted compensation for breach!!

ARU, Cooper and Toulon in conversation to see if it can be worked that he can do both!!

Hoping he cant and he has to go to Toulon. The Wallaby Cooper experiment needs to end.

I see Ngwenya (Biarritz) and Mark Chisholm (Bayonne) are rumoured to be going to Pau and Rocoko to UBB?

I thought the transfer window was closed @gaston le gaff?

It is for the clubs who were not promoted, Pau and Agen it is still open but we do have a little tournament in Oct where Jokers can be used for the little Oct tournament, sorry cant remember the name!!!!!!!!

That is very convoluted sounding...

Ultimately, AP is AP, be it just over the border or no; it would decrease Gatland's access to the player and decrease the number of stars Wales have at home to attract crowds. I can see why he considers that an issue.

I'm just not sure it helps when Faletau comes off contract in a year's time and can go and do it then if he wants to - only difference it seems to make is Newport lose out on the fee.

Nothing important that I am aware of either!

So under that rule, UBB cannot have Joe then?

He has a young family and needs more certainty than a joker for short time surely?

What's the deal with Gorgodze at the moment?

Am I imagining rumours that he was on his way to the AP/is he leaving Toulon?

Thomas Cubelli to Brumbies. Interesting signing, I suspect this means he will still be eligible for Argentina if he is playing for a different Super Rugby team than theirs.

On Rokocoko to Racing Metro - it has been widely reported : http://www.3news.co.nz/sport/joe-rokocoko-to-join-dan-carter-at-racing-92-2015072909#axzz3hoPa9qi8

Somehow it looks like Sereli Bobo is heading to Toulon as well.. I'm not sure of the legality of these moves after the window closes. But presumably Rokocoko was let go of his Bayonne contract, so I assume he was a free agent (does the window close for signing unattached players?).

Bobo was released at the end of last season by La Rochelle and therefore did not have a club he was part of Provale (which is unemployed players who have no club contracts) eg Rassie Van Vuren also from La Rochelle who secured a contract with Bayonne) these contracts can be done outside the window as the players were not contacted to any clubs and there are also medical and World Cup joker facilities, only players who are contracted does this window appply too. There is also the fact that clubs can add to their quota if it is below the stipulated number which is 42 i think, but not certain on that number.
at the moment Mamuka is still with Toulon another rumour started by the press no doubt.
