Transfers rumours

I could probably struggle through that with my A-Level French and WordReference, but I assume your summary covers the important bits and can save me the tortuous half hour ... ?

It certainly would be a hell of a signing, both for the one year playing and the coaching. Would he be a marquee player? Either way, I do think second row is the area we most need to improve

If he goes as a part coach then that could be a good bit of business, it's amazing how much difference a guy like that can make in a year.
Hines was only with Sale for a year, but was coaching our lineout while here and it improved dramatically. He did one on one work with Josh Beaumont, who went from a decent jumper to a really good operator, and he was running our lineout, in front of Hines, by the end of the season.
Think there's a lot to be said for player coaches in specialised positions - forwards coaches can talk through the theories and analysis, but it's the guys who are out there every week jumping/scrummaging etc. that know what's really going on.

Could possibly be that he was sounded out in a coaching only role, but wanted to continue playing. (if true, of course)

Just noticed that England/Saints u18 winger Rotimi Segun isn't joining their senior academy.
London born - think he might be joining a certain North London club.

Eddie Jones to coach the Stormers after his contract with Japan runs to a close this year? He has admitted to being in advanced talks as far as I can gather and the Stormers will probably be knocking hard on his door and has some cash freed up.

Other than that, prominent local politicians are also advocating selling the Cape Town Stadium to the WPRU for R1.00 as the cost of maintenance and irregular use is becoming a bit of an embarrasment for the city. The idea is that WPRU can then sell Newlands as its a tad outdated and situated in prime an office district; a case of cutting your losses for the City of Cape Town. As a spectator having to drive in fomr outside the city the CTS is a much more alluring prospect ITO access. It'd be a tough decision to drop Newlands though- the world's oldest still functioning rugby grounds (est 1888)?

All we would need then is a good 10... hopefuly Eddie comes on board and can use his appeal somehow to lure... someone, whom i don't know.

New coach, possibly new grounds, new players... exciting times for rugby in the Western Cape!

Apparently Leicester Tigers are in the process of signing a SA player one mentioned is Jean De Villiers.

But nothing of real certainty.

Any SA posters might have an idea of any backs (centres or back 3 really) who might be looking elsewhere.

What is Jean De Jongh status?

De Villiers the likely WP centre to move off with De Allende signed and De Jongh our captain.

Tigers are really leaving it late to strengthen their squad...

JDV is wanting to now stay in SA after World cup.

Doesn't surprise me. I'd have thought if he was wanting to come back to Europe that Munster branch would've been very interested. His wife still has a business in Cork.

TBH a few teams seem to be waiting to make more signings till when the RWC is finished or going on.

Not worried really we need one more back and with Mauger he will know what he needs.
