Transfers rumours

....but seriously folks.

We really would be mental to let Roko go, it's a shame his injury (and probably mismanagement of his recovery) ruined his form for a large part of the season but he seems to be coming back to his best now. Also, we're losing Agulla at the end of next season, would be annoying to lose two first team wingers in 2 years

Letting him go doesn't really come into it. Bath will give Roko as good an offer as they can afford in the context of the salary cap, but it will definitely fall short of what Clermont can offer. It's then kind of out of Bath's hands.

Not really since he is still in contract.

With both Bath and his 18 year MOD contract, for which there is ordinarily quite a lengthy period of notice.

He may have applied as it was open to all (over 50 cv's received) but he will be considered and then refused its not going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe he just wanted an inside view on what are the demands made on an incoming coach so he could write another article for the Mail!

After all, this was a man who refused a job at RFU as he would not get overall control free from interference!

On that basis, why would he take the French job where the coach is completely hamstrung by political animals!!

According to the article I read he's made it down the last 8 - alongside Noves, Galthie, Ibanez and Jake White (+ 3 unnamed).

That's an interesting move, is he going to be good enough ? He looked very useful when playing for Brumbies and a bit for Oz, but after a year in the French league at 34 is he going to be quick enough ? Especially if you think how wasps use their backrow.

Good signing for them IMO

With the likes of Young and Jones he is a good stop gap until they are fully ready IMO.

How old was Serge when he joined Wasps?

RE: Noves he is now well past his sell buy date he's looked a reck of a man the last two season, lets no forget the Fritz shambles last year etc... and the awful form early both season, Tolouse have been here or there about due to the class of the squad not Noves, they've been on a downward slide for a while.

It should have been Galthie, about 3 years ago, but i fear that ship has sailed now.

Matt OConnor should get it. I hope he does - among other genuinely exciting candidates: Clive Woodward, Vincent Moscato, Jake White. FFr are blessed. Some headache..

How long has jake White been at Montpellier? Surely he will be looking to leave now?

Since Jan. but this was reported by the Telegraph about him apply for the job. When in fact yes he was at Marcoussis where they are doing the interviews but he was accompanying Shaun Sowerby who was there to get his French coaching Diplomas, nothing more nothing less complete fabrication by the English press (telegraph)

Interesting. I pity the guy who gets the gig, they'd be up against a fundamentally flawed union.

Personally I hope Noves gets it as he's really the only French coach other than Bernard Laporte who has consistently delivered excellence within French rugby (this season perhaps excluding).

Noves is getting on he is 61. I also think his talent will be a complete waste on the job given the environment he'll be operating in.
Had he taken the job earlier in his career he would have walked away from the many trophies he won at the club. Noves saw the potential at Toulouse over anywhere else and made the right choice.
Amazingly, Saint-André couldn't see a similar opportunity at Toulon with the squad he had. He'd now be sitting on 3 consecutive HCups and 1 Bouclier. Now he is sucking on Blanco's candy. Pauvre Philippe.
If Noves has gone for the Knob job, he feels he has done his time here and I honestly think he has. He's won everything and should be allowed to bow out the way he wants. He knows the time of winning back to back championships and/or league is gone. We'd have to recruit like Toulon. He doesn't want that.
The board here have not prepared his succession. It'll be their loss because they could be caught short and it is not up to him to do it. They could also move him up to some Director of rugby position or consultant. It's their move. But he will dictate how he leaves.

Strettle and Ashton to clermont
pls let it be so- would maybe shut Austin Healey up about Strettle's 'world-class' finishing for at least portion of the season (until one inevitably wins European player of the season for Clermont and joins the Armitage/Abendanon for England hype club)
