Transfers rumours

Why do people keep saying Itoje will be England captain?
I accept he's going to be a great player, but great player =/= great captain.
Not saying he couldn't be a great captain, just seems a bit of an assumption.

England U20 captain, Saracens Storm and LV Cup games captain (in a team with Burger who used to captain his country). At the age of 20. Pretty easy assumption to make.

He's a lock (locks and flankers seem preferred for captaincy), has U20s captain experience (so has been picked as a leader from early on) and bags of potential. I guess it makes sense.

Still, I'm not sold that he's even guaranteed to get a cap yet. Clearly he has the physique and potential, but he wouldn't be the first player with these attributes to have fallen by the wayside. And then you look at the age of the competition:
Attwood - 27
Slater - 26
Lawes, Kitchener - 25
Kruis - 24
Launchbury, Matthews - 23
Stooke - 21

Gonna be a tough selection fight for Itoje for most of his career...

For instance, Launchbury is only three years older and has fulfilled potential (and is still improving) and may represent an obstacle for Itoje throughout Itoje's career. I suspect Launchbury may start for England for the next decade. If Itoje can run a lineout, then it'll stand him in good stead to partner Launchbury. If not, then Itoje may not make the impact we'd expect.

Still, over the moon as an England fan. We are probably guaranteed strong options in the second row for the next decade or so.

He is a **** hot player tho but time will tell still only 20 years old see how he matures as a player before saying England captain I think tho bit defo the World Cup even maybe lions depends how he develops!

Well he's a hooker for starters a very exciting one in all honesty watched him the other week future England hooker defo the two of them in the pack very exciting!

Honestly, I am glad. I'd love to see him in Wales overall, but Leicester is the best club for him.
Scarlets have Priestland and Shingler; Ospreys with Biggar; Cardoff-Patchell and Anscombe; Newport would be a waste of his time.
He can play top rugby in a great team, and really be a leader and play high pressure stuff. Mauger coming in is even better! He is my second choice standoff for Wales right now, such a good player. Great kicking both off the tee and in field, decision making under pressure is good, and doesn't let mistakes get him down (missed two kicks v Toulon but still kept on going and made a few more. Also threw the intercept, but again didn't put his head down and wilt).

Mat Luamanu to Newcastle Falcons one of the forum, don't know how true it is any Treviso fans on here what know anything ?.

There are a lot of rumours about Treviso atm.. Prop Salesi Manu will probably leave, the other player who is supposed to leave is Leo Auva'a who plays in the same position as Luamanu! The rumor of Luamanu leaving is new to me, lately Italian media are saying that Auva'a is the most probable to leave..neither of them really settled in Treviso and they didn't play really well so far..

Handre pollard -----> Saracens replacement for Hodgson apparently

.. there is a general request regarding using expletives ATM and I am an admin.. I.. it's just.. wow, that was difficult to swallow. Man, I hope these reports linking Etzebeth, Vermeulen and Pollard to moves overseas are hogwash.

I remember when us Falcons were linked with Auva'a before he came to you, is he any good or has he not done much for you ?.

Nothing special from both Luamanu and Auva'a.. The "less worst" between the 2 is Luamanu atm..

Priestland...? Conceding that he's going to be a second choice club FH at 27?

If Matt Tait and Salvi are going to Bayonne I would gladly take Williams and Tipuric.

Are we becoming Leicester Welsh now?

Can't see it happening with DC.

Either it just agent talk with DC being up for grabs or we are working something out with the WRU.

Feeling it is the former.

Also we are in talks with Kanio as well according to a solid club source, although he did say we are I talks with a few big name players it just mainly to see what happens.
