Transfers 2012/13

Why would Perpignan do that?

Do they just look at who's got a fair few caps for their country and sign based on that, regardless of whether they're any good or not?
If they wanted to go for an ex-Ireland SH then Stringer would've been the better option.

Perpignan need a new scrum half, as young Florian Cazenave (22) hasn't looked ready to be first choice this season, whilst their other scrum halves are Top 14 squad players not first choice players who going to get you challenging for the top 6 in the league

O'Leary has definitely had a large dip in form for over a year, but he is capable remember Ireland Wales in 2010, Ospreys Munster 2009, so maybe a move could spark his career back into light, if not then he's Perpignan's problem
Richie Rees is on his way to France, Perp should go after him.

Anyone who has watched Munster lately instead of going on hear say will realize O'Leary has been in good form. Was bit iffy in H Cup but has played well

He has played well coming off the bench for Ireland A as well and obviously he's no shabby back up but in my opinion his dip in form is quite stunning as I would probably say he would be Ireland's 5th choice scrum (although Kidney would see it differently). He had some real international class but that was three years ago and since he hasn't played consistently well since then why will he now? Put it this way for him to lose his place at Munster to a kid from the academy that had only played a few months of senior rugby and then for him to be completely dropped by big daddy Kidney, he must really be crap :p

Well Murray went to being number 1 for Ireland so O'Leary wasn't only 1 to loose out and well I think he could blossom in France and think while he hasn't been at his best he has done well recently for Munster.

I think O'Leary would suit the French game. He's a very abrasive player with a good running game.

huw Bennett could be going according to Gatland:

"Huw Bennett hasn't been offered anything, or a lot smaller contract at the Ospreys, and could be going offshore," Gatland told BBC Sport.

The same article says Tommy Bowe's move back to Ulster has been confirmed. COME BACK TOMMY!

Seems like Nikki Walker is also leaving the Ospreys, from what I can tell.
Almost a whole backline gone: Byrne, Walker, Bowe, Spratt (OK, not the greatest), Williams, Hook, Phillips.

Guess you could put Gav in for Spratt.

Forgot about Gav! Please forgive me.
That being said, I get the feeling he will be on his way back.

Gethin's off to France as well then.at this rate Gats will be holding training sessions over there!!

hmmm... i wonder if Gats will continue to pick Gethin or wether he will go with Gill and Bevington in the near future.

Not so much a tranfer but James Merriman, Roy Winters, Jon Goodridge, Marco Mama and Ruki Tipuna have all agreed new deals to remain at the Memorial Stadium for the 2012/13 season. Great news, Merriman has been a star for us since he joined, Winters will go down as a Bristol great. Mama has a good future and Tipuna has made a heck of a difference to us since he's been playing.

Completely forgotten about Merriman! Championed him for an Ospreys squad spot at some point in the distant past...

surely better than Tom Smith who in the eyes of Holley+Johnson has been undroppable this season
I'd say so too in terms of potential talent, graft and contribution to the team. I think where he let himself down was his professionalism - quite liked a boozer, so I hear.

EDIT: Speaking of which, Smith has just signed for London Irish.

Boy was regarded as being to small for top flight rugby!
