Transfers 2012/13

With a year left on his contract too... so big bro must have either pushed him or told him he wasn't plan A in the future and to consider looking elsewhere.

Therefore, with Paddy Jackson still a very young pup (albeit with a lot of potential), I'd expect a replacement coming in. Of course, with Mark Anscombe incoming, rumours abound regarding Gareth Anscombe - but I believe he is NIQ and not experienced for PJ to learn from - thus the IRFU would frown on it.

That's a kick in the ******** for Geraghty, particularly as Catt is gone.

why?

just adding some competition for him

What, with Brian Smith there? Just means Geraghty will be shoehorned to 12 (where he should never EVER play), fail miserably thanks to the sit-deep mentality and be dropped to the reserves for all eternity.

It's a long season so the more competition for places with London Irish, the better it is for them. It allows Brian Smith to rotate from week to week and to change the pace of the game from the 50th minute on by bringing on an impact sub. The French teams have been doing it for years. Since Joe Schmidt came to Leinster, they've employed the same strategy.

London Irish have made some impressive signings. Players like Skivington, O'Leary, Humphreys and Geraghty should be good enough to lift them into a top 6 spot from next season.

As we already sort of know but Scarlets have confirmed that Lou Reed and Daniel Evans are leaving the region at the end of the season.

Really? That looks like an impressive attempt to form the most flaky half-back pairing in the history of man.

Really. They're not an international standard or league ***le winning standard pairing but they're more than good enough to help a team finish top 6 in the Premiership. There's some awful 9-10 combinations in that league.

My assertions aren't being levelled at their talent, it's at their consistency. At their best, they are all seriously talented players; at their worst, well... and its not like you have to dig that far to see what their worst is like. Depending on their confidence, they could either take LI to the top 4 or to the bottom.

And, imo, LI have bigger problems than half-back anyway.

care to name and shame these awful 9-10 combinations?
Worcester, Wasps, Sale. Saracens' (when Hodgson is at 10), Northampton's, Newcastle's and Exeter's are very, very average too. Bath (with Heathcote) and Gloucester have combinations that will get better. Leicester and Quins have strong partnerships.

Hey now, Sale's are decent (in my biased opinion )
Dwayne Peel is still a class act, and Cillian Willis has proved to be a quality operator (I actually prefer him to Peel) - Nick MacLeod may not set the world on fire but he's a solid distributor, excellent kicker and good defender.

Pfft, laugh all you want, he'll be the one tearing you a new arse on August 25th :p

Whilst there are some bad pairings, pairings such as Flood and Youngs, Care and Evans, Thomas and Mieres, de Kock and Hodgson, Dickson and Lamb, Peel and Macleod will be able to stand toe to toe with O'Leary and Geraghty/iHumph. They are decent enough players but to me it's been a constant source of mystery as to how the hell O'Leary has continued to win caps and iHumph and Geraghty have some good moments but as a casual Ulster supporter Humph does well enough but he's certainly not going to set the AP on fire.

Lads I not defending T. O'Leary but do say that he is MASSIVELY underrated for his defensive work and well I think in the AP he will be fine and let's not forget he did manage to be picked for a Lions tour and maybe the surroundings may help him rediscover that form.
