Good job, Sharks. Almost succumbed to the Rebels but pulled through. I have to say though that the Rebels are doing better than I expected they would, especially after the blow-out against the Waratahs. I thought the Chiefs game was going to be the possible banana peal game on tour for the Sharks but it looks like this was it and you probably won't get taken unawares against the Chiefs and then the big one. Good luck.

Smit was a bit AWOL in that game and its just confirms what everyone has known for the last 2/3 years; Bismarck is the best hooker in SA, Smit possibly in at 4th best on a good day.

Smit is an even worse loose-head prop by the way. I think even Burden is a better hooker than Smit.

I thought Smit did pretty well at loose-head last year, where as he still seems to struggle at tighthead (not that Beast scrummed all that well either)

Can't believe how the defence nearly s*at a brick when Voona scored, it was nearly worse than Aberdeen's defence against lower league opposition (which is really dire, to an extent at which is indescribeable)
Getting worried about a potential thrashing fae the Crusaders

What was up with Bismarck's throwing?

At least we know what to work on without having lost

Bismarck du Plessis was incredibly sloppy with the line outs which almost cost us the match.

i think bismarck numerous pilfers and general defense and work ethic at the breakdown out weighed what wonky throws he did.

Mind you as an ozzie we'd much rather see smits starting for the bokke so we can run around him again.

Well, to take a positive note from this I prefer a crap match against the Rebels which we can still win in stead of messing up in Hamilton or Nelson... We got 10 points already from the tour. You know what they say about teams who win their bad matches right ;)

We have the depth, we have the team to play running rugby... We can win this!

For all you followers of the Sharks group:

Photo's uploaded from the first 3 matches! Will snatch in a surprise for you guys!

I have no idea what they say haha

I think the Saffa teams are looking good which is also good news for u guys for RWC if that idiot coach of yours makes the right selections and gameplan.

Helium de Villiers... What a moron. He wouldn't even make the quarter finals with the All Blacks, I tell you...

London game seems to be back on- http://www.sharksworld.co.za/2011/03/14/sharks-may-go-to-london-after-all/

Two Sharks youngsters will be playing for the SA Sevens team in Hong kong and Adelaide.

Sithole and Jordaan.

The Springbok Sevens squad for Hong Kong and Adelaide is:
Chris Dry, Boom Prinsloo, Frankie Horne, Sibusiso Sithole, Neil Powell, Kyle Brown (captain), Branco du Preez, Bernado Botha, Paul Delport, Cecil Afrika, Tshotsho Mbovane, Paul Jordaan.

The new cap Mbovane has been playing for Maties and is one of the young contracted SA Sevens players. Has good pace and step...not seen enough to make a fair call on him yet...guess we just wait and see how he performs in Hong Kong.

SHARKS NEW SIGNINGS?- http://www.keo.co.za/2011/03/16/sa-latest-lions-to-appeal-kamana-ban/

It sounds Like Marius Joubert and Ronnie Cooke, both Outside centres could join The Sharks towards the end of the Superrugby tournament.

Don't like that we looking to get these guys we have better youngsters coming through. I would back our current contracted players. My Sharks centres for next year. Bosman, Jacobs and two young stars Paul Jordaan and Piet Lindeque. Stef must call it a day unless he plays only as cover off the bench or only as a Fullback...he is limiting our attack at 13...no offence at all, it is just that he is very well suited to 15 and is not the ideal 13 in my opinion.

Marius Joubert Signing Confirmed, will join team when he has finished the season with Clermont in France.

Former Springbok Joubert to join Sharks

Article Published: Thursday 17 March 2011

Former Springbok and Cheetahs back Marius Joubert has reportedly signed with the Sharks from French club Clermont Auvergne.

According to a number of reports in the Durban media the 31-year old Joubert will finish his rugby career with the Sharks and could join them before the end of the Super rugby season.

If Joubert's form is anything like the form he enjoyed when he left South Africa Adi Jacobs will probably struggle to keep his place in the Sharks team.

Clermont are in contention for the Top14 ***le and the final is on the 4th of June.

They are also in the last eight of the Heineken Cup and the Heineken Cup final is on the 21st of May so Joubert could theoretically play for the Sharks in their final two rounds of regular season matches and the play-offs if they qualify.

Joubert won 30 caps for the Springboks and formed a formidable centre pairing with Jean de Villiers under then coach Jake White.

I keep getting crapped on for Double Posting...don't get why it is a problem...Screw it i am gonna double post.

Chiefs deserved the win and Sharks deserved the loss...as simple as that. Useless display of ball retention from The Sharks!!!!

How to Beat Crusaders?

-Must limit mistakes, get clean ball from lineouts, scrums and rucks
-Disciplined Defence
-Play as much of the rugby in their half as possible
-Must be quick to the breakdown to secure good ball
-Looseforwards must come across fast in defence especially in the centre channels
-Put pressure on Carter...rush on from Charl Mcloed
-Rush defence with wings covering with scrumhalf behind first line of defence
-take all points available...if it is kickable take it
-Commitment will also be key on defence and at getting to the breakdowns on own ball
-Play around the finges and keep it tight and swing it wide when an overlap develops.
-Ball retention in Crusaders half will be key to accumulating scoring opportunities.
-If their is an opportunity to kick the ball out...kick it out and keep it tight.
-Put high ball on Maitland.

Good Luck Sharks i know you guys can win it...will be toughest game we have played in a long time. Stand up to the challenge Sharkies!!

INJURY UPDATE-

-Ross Skeate has recovered from hIS finger injury and will be in the selection frame for Stormers game.
-Jp Pieterson is 2-3 weeks away from full fitness.
-Jean Deysel could even feature as early as this week for The Sharks XV in the Vodacom Cup and will be available for The Sharks after the Bye; around Mid April.
-Lambie has a fractured Middle Finger, but could still play for the next 2 weeks...a final decision will be made 2morrow weather to rest/have small op. or play the next 2 weeks with a protective cover. The Bye comes after Lions game.

With a number of previously-injured players making good progress over the last three weeks, John Plumtree gave a strong indication yesterday that he may look at "freshening up" his squad ahead of the match against the Crusaders in London on Sunday.
Had the Sharks opted to head straight from Hamilton to the UK, then they would obviously have stuck with the same 26 man squad who'd served them so well on their three-week Australasian tour – although I'm sure one or two guys would have probably headed back to Durban anyway as they wouldn't have played in the final week. Making the trip via Durban, though, gives the opportunity to assess the injury situation, both in the tour group itself and in the wider squad. The good news for the Sharks, at this stage, is that it's become more a question of who to leave out, rather than who to take along.
Of the 26-man tour squad, only Pat Lambie now looks doubtful for the trip to London, with a fracture to the middle finger on his left hand possibly serious enough to require surgical correction. He will see a specialist today, but may well be cleared to play against the Crusaders anyway. As a key player to the Sharks campaign, I'm sure no chances will be taken with his long-term health, though. Jean Deysel and JP Pietersen are both still on the sidelines, of course, with the former possibly due for a return to Vodacom Cup action this week already.
Possible returnees to the Sharks squad for the match against the Crusaders include prop Eugene van Staden, now over his shoulder concern, and lock Gerhard Mostert, who has proved his match fitness through several storming performances for the Sharks XV over the last month. The Vodacom Cup side is sure to benefit this week as well froma fresh injection of players who toured with the Sharks, including Dale Chadwick, Marcell Coetzee, Mark Richards and possibly even Anton Bresler, depending on what Plumtree decides to do with Mostert. Ross Skeate is another who is expected to start his comeback via the Vodacom Cup this week.
The Sharks group to play the Crusaders will be finalised today.

Lambie is now officially out for 3 weeks, as he needs a pin inserted in his finger

What a bummer, it would have been great if he couls score the most points in SuperRugby this season, but now it appears that honour will definitely fall to Carter

'Mon the Potgeiter, you knocked us out in a semi so the least you can do is get us into one

That's a good team within the circumstances. Only change I'd make is to swap Daniel in and have Kanko on the bench for the last 30.

Please JJR... It's JP Pietersen... It makes me cry to see a Sharks-fan spelling a name wrong :(

I finally got through to LordHope who was constantly referring to Kockott as Kockett haha
