The Official Sonny Bill Williams Thread

Sonny was made go the full distance by an amateur ... regardless of the weight a man who built his life around boxing will beat him...in the same manner as if you were to put Ricky hatton in center against sonny bill... its just not going to be a fair fight.
How would Hatton beat him? Give me a simulation.

Hatton would walk slowly down to the ring , A quiet air of confidence spread across the whole room , Sonny is pacing the ring pumped up like a madman He is ready for this Little ginger man.

As Hatton approaches the ring the lazers from the light show are dazzling the crowd , Hatton vaults his way into the ring throws his head back like a proud stallion and the Las vegas crowd go wild the Hitman is here!

Hatton strides towards SBW and whispers in his ear , nobody can hear apart from the two the crowd assume its some sort of a joke or a friendly gesture as SBW smiles and laughs , each pass to their respective corners.

Hatton at this point knows he has him. the men are called in by the ref they touch gloves and the bell tolls once as if to say " your funeral sonny"

Initially the fight is cagey both men sussing each other out then all of a sudden....FALCON PUNCH !!!!! Sonny is reeling from this blow .. he staggers BAM BAM !! "one two UNIFLUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!" shouts hatton ..............Sonny falls

On his back staring at those so very very bright lights all Sonny can hear is the excited roar of the Vegas crowd and the pre match words of Hatton ...."first round mate" ....

There is a simulation for you.

Yeah, but what are the results of Hatton's sparring with heavyweights?? Do you know? Hatton has very limited head and lateral movement, and he'd be walking right into Sonny's punches.

Where did you do your boxing, if I may ask?

EVERY Boxer knows that in their gym they'd have to spar all different types of weight classes thats what happens in a Boxing gym. Its good for their fight to be constantly exposed to different intensities, styles and speed. So theres no doubt Ricky would have had heaps of rounds with good heavies ones who have been fighting WAY before Sonny ever did. Ricky is far more experienced and is in a higher league than Sonny. If Ricky Hatton played Rugby for a premier club side and he did ok would you say Ricky Hatton could outplay Will Genia in Rugby?..Sonnys just new and late to Boxing.

Sonny is not that good of a Boxer (and thats being nice). Hes got a jab and thats nothing special as far as Rickys concerned, its like Sonny facing up to an opponent in Rugby and finding out they have a good fend, its nothing special for Ricky and he knows how to go about it. Ricky probably trains like Sonny 8 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week only difference is Sonny trains for Rugby and Ricky trains for Boxing. Sonny goes fairly ok against poor Boxers, Ricky goes great against the greatest.

At the end of the day (like many many Boxers) I'd say Ricky would beat Sonny (unless Sonny masters MANY things) and you feel that Sonny would beat Ricky with his reach and power advantage and fair enough. Heres a video with one of the heavyweights in Roy Jones Jnrs gym, big guy talking about a smaller Roy....please note this guy Gabe Brown is on a far higher level than Sonny

Oh and my gym...its the Wildcard gym:p

Yes, that's very much the norm but what were the results of those sparring sessions with the heavyweights?

You're right that Hatton trains a lot a day, not 8 hours though but a lot compared to Sonny, but I'm factoring his slickness to get inside Sonny, he just doesn't have any. Hatton would have so much length to cover, even if Sonny is a newbie, he'd be able to keep him at bay. You say a lot of things, but you haven't said how Hatton would deal with it yet. That's all this is about, really.
''Hatton goes great against the greatest??'' Please, you're pushing it now.

Sorry, I didn't watch the video, as the net is a bit on the slow side.

Wildcard gym huh? That's my gym too! :p

TBH, I can't believe I'm discussing Hatton vs SBW. tsk..

Ok, he'd get on the inside of SBW, SBW not being able to guard short of trying to put Hatton in a headlock, and Hatton knocks him out, or beats him over several rounds via points, as SBW wouldn't land a single clean punch.

big guy vs. little guy... judge for yourselves:

Hatton would get inside, counter, outbox and catch the poorly guarded SBW. Sonny would have his chin tested far too many times from Ricky. Rickys sparred with guys with jabs before everyone Boxer has lol, I have. If you trained in Boxing you 'should' know sparring is sparring the results of sparring sessions arent always a big deal, yes you do hear of some sparring sessions but who gives out results to sparring sessions lol. Once more you could say the same for Sonny, whats the results of him and Anthony Mundines sparring sessions?....

Ricky Hatton is on a far higher level than Sonny. If you know Boxing then you'd know that Ricky fought and did great against Castillo, Tzsyu and even fought Floyd Mayweather and a heres a name for you Frank, heard of Manny Pacquiao (maybe Im pushing it aye lol). Who has Sonny fought?...what level?...I cant believe I even have to explain Boxings contenders and pretenders.

Maybe I should put a SBW vs Ricky Hatton on a Boxing forum to see how many laughs Id get.

If you watched that video I provided its about a REAL heavyweight Boxer named Gabe Brown whos fought some big names in the division. Hes telling us about why he wont spar the lighter/smaller Roy Jones Jnr, telling us things like 'are you crazy?'...and so on. I was hoping you could watch it then you could see how it is in Boxing gyms.

Heavyweights do have a power advantage hence the weight divisions but you got to land it, be able to Box to an artform, a fistic scientist, experience etc...just being heavy and in shape with a good jab and an occasional uppercut doesnt mean you can automatically beat a guy like Ricky Hatton, a Floyd Mayweather or a Manny Pacquiao, no, no, no.

Look man I hope I havent come through annoying in this post but brother Im just telling you what I think.

And if he'd not been stuck with a cheating, biased referee, would have finished Mayweather off by the 3rd round also

Pfft, the big guys will always win, that's why Nikolai Valuev is still WBA champion...

Anyway, even if somehow Hatton could not defeat SBW, Pacman would destroy SBW!

Hey I never said he did 'great' against Floyd. I meant that he got to fight Floyd.

You say he'll get inside but I don't think it'll be that easy, like I said, Hatton is very limited and an easy target for anyone with those kinda physical advantages. So you haven't seen the sparring, yet you talk as if he's had results at it. If anything, the sparring with heavyweights would be very limited - if there is any at all.

You worded it, ''Ricky goes great against the greatest.'' He beat a past it Castillo and Tzsyu and he got done well by Mayweather and Pacman. So he didn't do that great against the greatest, which is Mayweather and Pacman in this era.

Roy's a bit of a special boxer, isn't he? Roy is super talented, far different to Hatton, stylistically and fighting level-wise.

Sometimes physical advantages and styles can make up the difference in experience. And I don't worry about Sonny landing on Hatton, as I've already stated the reasons a few too many times, but he won't beat guys like Pacman or Mayweather, because they bring far more to the table in defense.

Don't worry, you're not coming off annoying. It is what it is.

Frank stop being so arrogant and learn to edit your posts!

So what you are saying Frank is that Hatton was a poor boxer, who's record was a joke. His only two loses came to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Not bad if you ask me, thought some good boxers in his career.

If SBW is go great Frank why has he not fought anyone of any note?

Touchy.

I never said he was a poor boxer. Just putting things into perspective.

I never said SBW was a great boxer either. You're just reading too far into it.
