The Movie Thread

The story felt very messy, which I'm sure is down to the reshoots. I'm sure if the new, more light hearted version that they've decided to put out had had more development put into it then it would've been a very good film. Nonetheless it was fun, though I thought the Joker was poor. He was crazy, but not scary. All those maniacal laughs were over the top and silly. I would also say that Harley's development was very rushed. I'd have liked to have seen more of how the Joker manipulated her and torturer her etc. Then he might have been scarier.

That was due to the PG13 rating for the movie...

If this was an R-rated movie (which it should've been), then I think all the characters would have had a much better developed story. I liked the Joker's portrayal. I think many viewers of the movie will try to compare Jared Leto's Joker to Heath Ledger's Joker, which is in my view a wrong comparison to make. Heath did an awesome job, and will most probably be the best joker ever, but Jared's portrayal was in my view very good too...

Actually I see Leto's joker as a pale imitation of the greatest portrayal of the joker.....Mark Hamil

Nobody has a clue what the reshoots actually changed to the film they are standard practice amongst films for 'solving' issue they pick when the film starts being put together on screen.

The film was badly edited between it's two distinct parts which felt more like two episodes of a TV series but I think that's an editing issue not reshoots or tone. I certainly didn't feel the film was all over the place.

The plot just isn't that engaging but it's not really supposed to be it's more about the interplay between the characters. As noted people need to stop thinking it's something it's not. It's suppose to be a slightly comedic action romp with fun characters nothing more.

Indeed.

The interplay between the characters was great, and I loved the humour. Mark Hamill's portrayal of the joker is the closest to Leto's portrayal, even though Hamill's just the voice of the joker. I loved the tattoos they gave the joker, especially the mouth tattoo on his hand and the rotten tattoo on his neck...

Leto basically did like a Gangster impersonation of the Joker IMO, It was alright but just wasn't quite sold on it.

My biggest problems in the film was
1) Joker - No point in him what so ever other than the Quinn backstory really, Just a wate of screen time IMO.
2) Quinn - Honestly why could she one shot those things with a baseball bat whilst they could absorb so many bullets, I mean her hammer with say a meat clever face would of made more sense and prob more in keeping with her character, (Also I will be in the minority here but i find Robbie looks wise overrated)
3) Other characters back stories (Other than Quinn and Joker) had zero.
4) Villain as said was weak.

I mean this film was basically a film for characters who don't have the story line to hold up there own film Quinn maybe but in the end she will always need the Joker or someone like Ivy to be the Ying to her Yang.

Side note WB need to hire new editors i mean first MoS then BVS and now SS I mean come on.

Would of like this to have started filming after Deadpools film success as i think WB might of had the confidence to go full 18, which would of prob up the films game.

Quinn was for me HOT as F***!

Yeah no idea why you don't find Robbie hot as hell.

Seriously the small blonde time rarely does it for me but the way she acts well it gets me going (in the three films I've seen her in).

Quinn was for me HOT as F***!

I guess the illusion went when i found out her legs where digitally enhanced in Wolf of Wall street.

I'm not saying Quinn didn't look hot or that she can't act hot either i'm just saying she is overrated looks wise. (also she nailed Quinn)

(Side note can someone tell what this daddy, mommy crap thing is? I mean any tweet or instagram by a celeb is followed by this hi daddy crap).

Don't ask me I don't get what's great about twitter or snapchat.

I find use from facebook my social group is dotted around the country so it manages to keep us together as a cohesive whole and up to date on each others lives.

The other thing is I live a fair distance from my sister and only see her and the kids every couple of months nut through facebook I get regular updates on what they're up to without the need for bloody long conversations.

Funny meme's (although I enjoy them) and Corbyn is the messiah I can live without.

Creed. Not bad film story wise - covering the rise of Adonis Johnson, the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed, as he tries to become a Boxer in the shadow of his late father. Quite impressed with Michael B Jordon, who I first saw in Fruitvale Station. Boxing in this film is more realistic than the original Rocky films, apart from that "knockdown" at the end of the film. You'll know what I mean if you've seen it.

Good to see Sly back who filled the "Mickey" role of mentor to Baby Creed. And a guest appearance for Andre Ward.

Birdemic. Glorious film. Not quite as quotable as The Room, but the production and acting quality is so fantastically terrible.

Sausage party = so so puerile, has its funny moments even as a massive fan of things like South Park I found this to be prob a bit to puerile couldn't stand a certain hygienic product in it.

Give it a 5/10, Mixed of LOL, WTF and ummmm

Sausage Party is arguably the worst film I've ever seen.
Have enjoyed all other stuff Seth Rogan et al. have done so thought this would be the same but.....I don't think I even chuckled once.
Can't believe I wasted the extortionate amount on the ticket.
Left after 45mins and I don't regret it one bit.

The Revenant. I can see why Leo finally landed his best actor Oscar. He was superb.

You should also then try this South African movie:

http://www.imdb.com/***le/tt4700248/

Set in 1901, this period epic follows Willem Morkel - a Boer and family man whose wife and son are murdered during the Anglo-Boer War. Captured as a prisoner of war, Willem must survive incarceration in the notorious St. Helena concentration camp and defeat the ruthless Colonel Swannell, at his own game... Rugby.

It's basically based on how rugby was established in South Africa. Pretty good movie, and it even has english subtitles for the Afrikaans parts.
