The Lions squad for 2021 prediction

Ringrose and Ryan would be the two!
That's it yes....shocked.....one thing I'm sure of, the Lions will have to work HARD on their scrums. That could change the whole tour. If Mako makes any test team it could be a very long tour.....

Im S African and I dont even agree with some of these, where does Aki fit in, Im sure there are more cable centres?

Seeing alot of open sides, so I guess Conan/Itoje for blindside (Itoje to have an extra line out option)

Newbie Hill over Ryan? Maybe because of his size? Id had love to see some big hits from Underhill even coming from injury.

Well, now we wait for the Champs sqauds

I'm getting the sense some of the players have been selected because they won't mind being mid-week players?
Yeah but surely you want players pushing for the test berths? I though that was the point of warm up games so players pushed one another to the top.

I just can't even.....

Question.
How different would the squad have been with the original coaching team though of Farrell, Borthwick and Rowntree?

Oh yes you do but it's almost like the test side beens selected and most of the Aki/Hill type players are there to be happy competing mid-week. Remember Gatlands replacements in NZ?

It definitely feels like players have been picked to be the mid week test team.
It was amazing when you could pick almost entirely 2 XV's out of the lions squad with the quality and depth.

I'm struggling to make 1 XV I'm totally happy with out of that..

There are some real head scratchers there. Just a few key questions.....

- Where's Sinckler? Not that he's been on fire, but everybody had him on the plane.

- Why does Gatland think the undercooked Sarries will now be cooked? If it means anything Daly's listed as a centre on the Lions website.

- Which lock plays at 6?

- If the Lions win will Sam Simmonds get an MBE to match his brother?

Hill. Over Ryan.

My brain still hasn't managed to wrap itself around that. I'll complain about all the other rubbish when it does.
At least Hill is fit.... Lawes hasn't played as injured.... I am slightly lost with some parts of this squad.

ALSO..... squad looks a little dry..... not sure i'd want to spend weeks in a hotel in Jo'Burg...

But realistically there is a good chance 25% of this squad won't tour due to injuries run up to end of season.

Yeah but it'll likely be something like Curry gets injured and he'll call up Haskell from retirement at this rate.

Haskell could tour now with Sean O'Brien as water boys and cheer up the squad.

CJ Stander flying to SA secretly delighted that COVID in place.
