Suggestions/ideas for Rugby 2012

Kickoff/restarts

Something I have found a bit annoying in previous ***les is the lack of options come kickoff whilst on offence or defence.

Some options I'd like to see when kicking is the ability to put it high so your forwards can actually get under it, being able to play with the back/forward mix on either side of you, faking one way and going the other and the low flat kicks (DC styles).

When receiving the option to set your players from a couple of preset formations, having forwards running onto the ball when backs receive the ball (as they do) and having players sheilding/protecting whoevers going to catch the ball from oppostion players.

Would add to the realsim of the game. Can't forget the wind either, should be a marker on screen at all times and you should be able to use it in kickoffs as you have been able to when taking conversions. Any other ideas?

Yea this game has massive potential. If they want to go for a rugby simulation style game kickoffs can no longer be ignored and it's pretty basic stuff. Teams such as the ABs are starting to use it as a platform of attack when kicking off, well when Dan Carters playing that is. Maybe having a button to tap the ball back as well would be cool and they need to suss out that automatic tackle that happened in Rugby 08 when the oppostion would jump to catch the ball and your player would take them out 99% of the time and get penalised.

Few ideas:
7s game mode. Team strength at 7s should be different to the team strength in the regular game mode.
Dynamic rucking. Committing players early should result in a higher chance of winning the ball.
Customiseable moves. Allow people to create running moves, scrum moves and lineout moves that they use in real life.
Professional fouls. Ability to tackle round the neck or not use arms the tackle, has the potential to injure players but also if used in a try stopping situation, maybe has a higher chance of missing but definite chance of being carded.
Also updating with law changes each year via updates.

It would be great to have different crowds in different countries/provinces...
When the All Blacks are playing in NZ there should be a sea of black shirts and a small patch of the opposing teams colours. (the exponents should get played when they score a try)
When playing in Australia the crowd should let out a roar of Waltzing Matilda
When playing in England they'd belt out a chorus of Swing Low
Wales should have a responses to the Haka... (maybe an unlockable)

And even at provincial level...

The Bucket Heads in Manawatu

The Mighty All Black Haka!!!

The Haka is a huge part of New Zealand Rugby...

I would love to see both All Black Haka's in Rugby 2012
Maybe 'Ka Mate' should be the default Haka, and 'Kapa O Pango' should be an unlockable.
The NZ Maori do different Haka's to the All Blacks having a couple of these in the game would be awseome.
It would also be great to get some of the Pacific island Nations Haka's on Rugby 2012

And how about some responses to the Haka... eg. Refusing to come onto the field, standing toe-to-toe with the All Blacks, or not backing away after the Haka, as the Welsh did in 2008. I remember getting up early for that game (NZ Time) and i thought their response was brilliant!

I would also like to see the national anthems put in the game, like they did in the FIFA World Cup game, But I would much rather a decent rugby game put out before any of these little features are added. I really dont want it to be another rugby league, cricket, backbreaker type game, so much potential but oh so much fail just because they either tried to do too much too soon or they just didn't care enough to do something properly.

FIFA 11 has a custom crowd sound thing where you can add in entrance music, crowd chants, crowd goal celebrations, half time and full time music for each team. It's pretty sweet I've done it and it adds a lot of atmosphere. No idea how much work it would require but it's a cool feature.

Mate I'm no techno genius either! Just followed a youtube tutorial thing that just shows you how to do it and gives you the download links.. Once you've actually downloaded the chants/songs onto your computer you just need to put them on a usb, plug into the ps3 and do a couple copies. Easy as.

If you have your Xbox or PS3 networked to your PC you can rip them directly from the hard disk, saves pigging about with the USB drive.

National Anthems are a must I'd say, with the camera going down the line over the faces of each player[providing the graphics are awesome] and seeing their expressions, the haka should be involved since it has been for hundreds of years and it is one of the highlights of watching the All Blacks for numerous nations.. Im not too sure about Kapa o Pango though, maybe too much detail, but as an unlockable, yeah why not... but if its too much hassle then no....

Wallabies get the waltzing matilda, England swing low, Wales what ever they sing etc etc surely every major rugby playing country has something unique about their crowds. Be good to see a few different crowd reactions to the haka also like singing above it, cheering, booing or complete silence as well as different team responses..

Swing low and Cwm Rhondda are already in Rugby 08 (I think a few others as well).
They can be heard at the teams respective home stadia.

Would like to see Kapa o Pango as an unlockable.

These are some old examples but what about having the option from a botched kick off (not going 10m etc) to either a rekick or a scrum like in Rugby. Also have a power choice once position of kick is set kinda like an advanced version of the Rugby League game restarts.
