What does one think of the Stormers. They promised so much early on and then just when everyone gave up on them they go and win their first ever match in Dunedin.

Match detail
We are waiting for the kick off. The match is underway.

3.00: The Chiefs start strongly and look like they want to run the ball.

5.00: The Stormers attack but Stephen Donald puts in try saving tackle. The tackle is deemed to be high so the Stormers get a penalty. De Waal misses.

5.00: The game is held up for an injury to Serge Lilo.

9.00: As the game continues there is another injury to Conrad Jantjes who we can hear screaming in pain over the crowd with an injury to what we think is his leg. He will be stretchered off. This could take some time. Jantjes right leg is the problem. It gets strapped heavily and he is carried off.

10.00: The Chiefs re start the game with intensity.

14.00: Brok Harris now goes down with a right leg injury. He gets up and Luke Watson finds a hole and snipes - there is no support so the Chiefs stop him.

16.00: The Stormers keep up the attack and Willem de Waal finds a hole and darts for the line and scores the first try of the match. He takes the conversion and nails it.

20.00: The Chiefs work the ball through the phases (12) but then Tiaan Liebenberg goes for the intercept and knocks on.

24.00: Stephen Donald sucks in a defender and passes to Liam Messam who then runs in the Chiefs first try.

25.00: Stephen Donald nails the conversion to level the scores.

28.00: There is another injury break - Tiaan Liebenberg again.

32.00: Injuries are taking their toll in this match as Schalk Burger comes off holding his knee. Pieter Louw comes on.

35.00: The injuries seem to be allowing the game to flow better now as the Stormers boot the ball downfield only for Mils Muliaina to boot the ball and then Peter Grant to boot it back - its aerial ping pong.

38.00: De Waal opens op the defence for Liam Bax but he gets caught. The ball is loose and there is a chase for it between de Waal and Muliaina. The line wins.

39.00: Richard Kahui gets the line break, he shoves off Grant and sends Toby Moreland in for the try.

40.28: Stephen Donald slots the conversion.

The half time score was Stormers 7 Chiefs 14

The second half is underway.

42.00: The Chiefs win a line out after a Sireli Naqelevuki gives away valuable possesion. They run the ball and work it through the phases (8) but then the ball goes out.

46.00:The Stormers come close to scoring but the Chiefs defence soaks it up.

51.00: The Chiefs then fire back at the Stormers and Ben May comes close but a knock on goes in.

53.00: There is a free for all as tensions run high.

56.00: Mils Muliaina gets a team warning for the Chiefs after too many infringements. The Stormers cheerleader girls have little to cheer about and have put their jackets on and sit on the sideline.

61.00: The Chiefs win a line out in the Stormers 25 they work the ball up to the line (Mils Muliaina) slides to the try zone and our view is obstructed to we go upstairs.

64.00: Richard Kahui again gets the break on the Stormers and again Toby Moreland is there as he scores his second try of the night.

65.00: Stephen Donald adds the conversion. The Chiefs will now pile on the pressure for the bonus point try.

71.00: The Chiefs ate still pressing for the bonus point try. The pressure is relentless. Stephen Donald comes off as Mike Delany comes on.

76.00: Kahui is leading the charge for the bonus point try as the pressure mounts. It seems almost inevitable that the bonus point try will come.

77.00: Sione Lauaki bustr through the Stormers but just gets stopped before the line. They recycle and that dangerman Richard Kahui gets the ball and stretches out and dots the ball down for the bonus point try.

77.00: Mike Delany slots the conversion.

79.00: It's too little and way too late but Sireli Naqelevuki shows some pace and scores a try for the Stormers.

80.00: Peter Grant takes the conversion kick and nails it.

Full report to follow.

The final score is Stormers 14 Chiefs 28

Another typical Stormers performance, oter ****

Chiefs played well and got what they came to do, 4 tries bonus point, 5 log points and move to 2nd now on the log.

Where to now for the Stormers, somebody tell me when you find out please! <_<

A little bit of good luck would have been nice, instead we lose Jantjies and Burger in the same game, and without Jean, Bekker, etc. that's pretty much us screwed.

That new guy in the FB position was completely out of his depth.

Yeah that Bax kid, can't be older then 19 - 20 year, heard he plays center and now all of a sudden he must play fullback in his 1st Super Rugby game, WTF!!!???

Why not put Morgan Newman on at wing and move Chavhanga to fullback?

This is the injury list I've worked out so far for the Stormers:

JDV
Mujati
Bekker
Monty
Bobo
Koster
Fondse
JC Kritzinger
Deon Fourie

and then tonight:Jantjes & Burger

thats 11 "quality" players for the Stormers...not that the injuries are an excuse for the Stormers poor performances

Nah, you get em as they come and have to make due, it's still amazing when you look at that list though.

Tiger just turned 21...he didn't have a good debut today but still has the talent to make it.
