ShaheenJ's Kit Mod Thread

Is anyone gonna make the Super14 2009 kits? Season starts in a few weeks it'll be mean as if someone could do them.
 
I can make some, but i need photos of them. I can make the NZ ones above, or maybe if you like jawmalawm i can make the textures/kit and you can do the numbers and file packing?

I don't have time to start Sanzar MUP just yet in full swing. I need to get in touch with ShaheenJ. He seems to have gone quiet so is probably busy with other work., but he did lots and lots of work for it.

hey guys... i've come out of my off season slumber and did some pre season kit making lol... i've started with the blues and crusaders home kits... finished the fronts, and thanx to fa'atau for providing the kit fronts and backs. will make things a lot easier now :D. i was hoping adidas would stick to the numbers of last season, but oh well.... we could use someone to make number packs? ;).
 
I have adidas fonts if you want them. They are for soccer, but might look good on the S14 kits.
 
LINK HERE for Super 14 numbers. It's a image gallery on getty-images, but has numbers clearly visible for some of the kits, and also a new kit for Stormers that is gonna be hard to make..
 
I saw the new stormers away "signature" kit. I think its horrible. Way inferior compared to the nz teams :(. And the home kit looks too plain... geez, I might as well keep last season's shirt and not buy the new one ~sux. Anyways, I'm getting back into the swing of things.

Have a few minor adjustments to make all round.

EDIT: Oh... I'm really not too fussy about numbers. But it adds to the "authenticity" (we don't have legal rights to use it lol). So... I'll try to make this seasons numbers. But if that's too much of a "shlep", then we can use number packs that are already available, I don't see a problem with that ;).

Wanna push to have the kits out before the season starts...
 
Shaheen, i'm gonna email you some numbers, they are in the Pepsi font, but it looks quite good on kits and is similar to the NZ teams numbers. If have just made the border, so you can fill the colour in, for a border effect or not if you don't require it.

The blues kit is not complete... I mentioned there's minor adjustments to be made and will change the colour on the shoulder, thanx for pointing that out... But u have to remember that the lighting in-game also has a shiny effect on the kits depending in which stadium you play.

I've been busy this weekend... Nearly done with the NZ Super 14 kits... Here's what I've done this far...

 
Very nice kits. I have a tip, which is if you make a copy of the finished kit as one layer, you can then cut out some parts of the collar to make them transparent, so it looks like the collar is slightly open.

I'm doing it on my British and Irish Lions kit.
 
Thanx for the tip ;). I wanted to get the main parts right first before fiddling with the finer details that completes the kit. Moving on to minikits this week...

If this is the Stormers Home kit for '09 then I'm hugely disappointed.

Compare that to the NZ Super 14 sides? Hopefully there's something cool embedded in the fabric that cannot be seen in this image.
 
I says it has some kind of embossed logo in it.. and i like the plain kit anyway.. but it is essentially the same as last seasons and why would you buy it when you can buy the same thing at a snip of the price in a rugby sale?

I think that you should design some alternate kits for SA teams. I mean, just add something to the latest versions if they are a bit plain. I don't think the SA teams really have much variation in their kits over seasons, so to have Stormers have the same old is no real shock.

With the transparency, it's generally the last thing you do, although those kits look complete to me. It just depends on how much detail you like. On my Lions kits i have added the mesh shirt texture and sock texture, but the tricky part is making the sleev mesh the same size because for some reason it seems to have a much lower resolution on the sleeve.
 
Yeah I've noticed that the sleeve stretches too much when its wrapped around the player model, hence the lower resolution. Sucks a bit and will be tricky to match them up, unless u make use of "Adjustment Layers in Photoshop where u can set the scale of the pattern/mesh

Oh and with Canterbury SA being liquidated... none of our CCC sponsored franchises and clubs will receive new kit (except for the Springboks), and that's sad. So either we modify last season's kit, or alternatively make "fantasy" kits for the Sharks, Lions and Cheetahs?

I was thinking Shaheen.. you know the o.files.. is there an o.file that adjusts the collar and shorts? I'm just wondering if the model can be made a bit tighter to the thigh and if the old style collar can be made more realistic. Have you ever tried this?
 
i only know about the "config" file that selects the collar geometry and the fit of the shirt and have tried to make the collar more realistic, but my attempts made it look worse. never did any model editing yet. i try to stick just to graphics, i don't have the time to try and figure out coding anymore. although i'm busy making this seasons super 14 fixtures.... anyone else made them yet?
