[RWC2023] England vs Samoa (07/10/2023)

I 100% agree. Again that's not the point I'm making here, my point is that tier 1 teams get the game winning opportunities from refs tier 2 teams dont
England clearly arnt tier 1 quality though are we. That's probably why we get reffed like a tier 2 team. So much any english ref bias going on.

Jesus, is that really your argument, that the richest and most powerful cou try in the world are now tier 2 and being penalised unfairly?

Lol

Except Fiji were in a position to win the game, and should have if it hadn't been dropped with no men to beat, final touch of the game.

Let's not forget that Wales should have been yellow carded much earlier and Fiji had a try unjustly ruled out which looked good but was somehow ruled a double movement.
That was another game where the reffeeing was a sad joke...Fiji should have been easy winners.

It wasn't really aimed at yourself, more a response to the claim samoa were reffed out of the game.

There's an element of WWE about the refereeing at the moment. Referee's are concentrating so much on policing certain infrigments at certain times that they ignore the dozen other forms of illegal play going on around them.

Jerome garces. Never to be heard of again.
The prominent and first French referee to be awarded with the honour of overseeing a world cup final before he publicly retired from refereeing on the pitch, and who was then rewarded with becoming an official rugby hall of famer a couple of years later? Who now works with France as an advisor? That famous Garces?

Noones sayingbthere is a WR conspiracy, I think modern day refs are just weak, and there is evidence that if refs oversee tier 1 shock defeats they are pressured out of the game.

England are up by 1, 78 mins in, 30 mins from their own line and Chessum puts himself on the wrong side of a ruck. Samoa get nothing from it, EVERY tier 1 team in that position gets that penalty to have a shot at winning the game.

That's the point I'm trying to make
You saw chessum on the wrong side I saw at least three no arms Samoan tackles on their own line. I can guarantee that if we're Ire, SA or NZ they would have a penalty awarded or even a yellow awarded

Samoa were better than England and deserved to win btw. This is a long time issue

I watch a lot of Rugby....but cannot understand 50 % or more of decisions and defy anyone else to get all the same calls as the Refs do....as a result the sport is near incomprehensible .....and when it comes to the World Cup, it ain't fair either.

I agree, and I'm not slating England when I criticise the way refs are reffing the tier 2 teams.

We've seen multiple tier 1 teams get away with murder, Wales late on should have received a yellow, France got away with a forearm smash to a uruguayan chin, and then a number of incidents late on, Aus got some wild decisions against Georgia and now England luck out....
Tks for agreeing with me.....

Samoa were robbed blind, two disallowed tries on the thinnest of TMO decissions a yellow that went on fo nearly 15 minutes and penalty after penalty against them......as a game it was a sick joke, as a sporting contest it was a tragedy. England should be ashamed of the win.
Look England were awful....BUT one Samoa try was offside and the Samoans kept joining every maul ahead of the back footed player, plus other areas of dispute. So no....the ref didn't play for England

Great game to watch, not our best performance but good to see we can finds ways to win rather than find ways to lose as was the case prior to the World Cup.I thought Danny Care played well when he came on.great tackle late on.smith seemed lively when he came on although he did miss a few tackles(the one leading to the danny care tackle stands out)but some of that was down to positioning at full back.Thought steward was decent too.A game like that is a great learning curve for some of the younger players which is what some people on this forum have been calling out for.looking forward to the Fiji game now.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Now I know you really are living on another planet.

The ref did a good job. The TMO's did a good job. There is a problem with the TMO being too involved but I do not know what the answer is to fix it. If my team was scored against then I would want the TMO to ensure that it was fair. If my team scored a try them I would not want the TMO to break it down FRAME by FRAME by FRAME. What I have heard people say is that if the TMO cannot find a reason to reverse a try before the conversion attempt is done then it is a try. Makes sense. If it is that hard to find a reason to reverse the try them leave it alone. That Samoa try was a 50/50 reason to reverse it. TMO should have left it alone once the conversion attempt was made. Definitely I feel that the TMO's are inconsistent with analyzing neck rolls and poor tackle technique. I would like to know what the TMO rules are around when they can mention neck rolls or poor tackle engagement. Mulls are full of these potential yellow cards so why are some picked up yet MOST of the time they are left alone? Finally how good would Samoa be if they got more games against tier one nations.

Were you watching a different game?

Whatever planet I'm on it seems the sun shines brighter here…must be very gloomy where you reside 😂😂
You most be the one delusional person who thinks there were positives to take away.

England didn't really deserve to win and your man Farrell hardly covered himself in glory, throwing intercepted passes and not kicking a gimme 3 points in front of the posts.
