[RWC2023] England vs Samoa (07/10/2023)

That and the Samoa bench were simply not as good? I like the underdog story as much as the next guy but come on, starting to look like the dude from Goonies
I agree, and if you check the thread I said from 50th mi ute that Englands bench would be enough to nick it, and infact this challenge would be a great prep for Fiji next up.

I as a welshman would LOVE to meet England in the final!!!

I admire your optimism but I don't think there's any positives the side can take from that game, it'll be a confidence rattler more than a battle hardener
Agreed. We should have been going into the QFs with confidence and momentum. We're going in knowing like we just got our asses handed to us by a lower ranked team.

Never, ever going to happen

I can be guilty of this myself but it does feel a bit cringe when everyone fellates the unlucky underdog side who played "superbly", even though they ultimately just lost to.... Us. I dunno, it just feels a bit empty and you could argue patronising

Why is Clive Woodward still relevant?
No-one in England recognises any other coach tbf
Same reason they wheel out McGeechan for every Scotland game

Casual fans like a recognisable face more than good punditry

French neutrals have anhialated British teams so far.

I was at 3 matches of Wales, and all the French neutrals did was boo us
There is no such thing as a French neutral, we have opinions on everything and we always mingle in everybody else's business 😁

Hahaha no chance, Fiji scored 2 late tries to make it close lol.

I dont think this win was undeserved either, England always had the talent to take it late on

Daffodil tinted specs there I'm afraid. It's not like Wales were a cut above Fiji the rest of the game - they were good, but not enough to warrant victory on a 60 minute performance. With their dominance in the final 20, Fiji deserved it.

On 67 mins Wales were leading 32-14, and emptied their bench as job done.

Wales scored 17 unanswered points between half time and 67 mins, and barely made a tackle. Job was indeed done.

Fiji rallying and getting 2 late tries didnt change the fact that Fiji werent in a position to win the game with 10 mins to go, being down by 18 points.

If England were down by 18 points on 70 mins would you consider their performance good lol

Itoje 100% knocks that back, it's not clear and obvious, that's a try.

Poor refereeing for the tier 2 nation strikes again!

I'm getting so sick of this world cup!
The refereeing in this game has to be seen to be believed, if the on field ref misses anything, the TMO gets it......Samoa never had a chance.... Rugby has a death wish......
