[RWC2023] England vs Samoa (07/10/2023)

I agree, and if you check the thread I said from 50th mi ute that Englands bench would be enough to nick it, and infact this challenge would be a great prep for Fiji next up.

I as a welshman would LOVE to meet England in the final!!!
Everyone would love to meet England in the final. Honestly, if it happens it will be a bigger upset than 2007.

The refereeing in this game has to be seen to be believed, if the on field ref misses anything, the TMO gets it......Samoa never had a chance.... Rugby has a death wish......
I agree, and I'm not slating England when I criticise the way refs are reffing the tier 2 teams.

We've seen multiple tier 1 teams get away with murder, Wales late on should have received a yellow, France got away with a forearm smash to a uruguayan chin, and then a number of incidents late on, Aus got some wild decisions against Georgia and now England luck out....

On 67 mins Wales were leading 32-14, and emptied their bench as job done.

Wales scored 17 unanswered points between half time and 67 mins, and barely made a tackle. Job was indeed done.

Fiji rallying and getting 2 late tries didnt change the fact that Fiji werent in a position to win the game with 10 mins to go, being down by 18 points.

If England were down by 18 points on 70 mins would you consider their performance good lol
Except Fiji were in a position to win the game, and should have if it hadn't been dropped with no men to beat, final touch of the game.

Let's not forget that Wales should have been yellow carded much earlier and Fiji had a try unjustly ruled out which looked good but was somehow ruled a double movement.

Hahaha no chance, Fiji scored 2 late tries to make it close lol.

I dont think this win was undeserved either, England always had the talent to take it late on
Like Wales, England got a penalty warning, next player carded.

Like Wales never followed through

This is worst England side in 15 odd years. Not strong in anyone area and very good players have regressed to average
Coaching and selection is very poor

How come the TMO missed so many English offences?

You really think WR are protecting England via bias officiating? lol

England are one of the most, if not the most, penalised T1 side. I'm sure someone can dig up the stats.
No way the LRZ try would get awarded if he was playing for England.

England are terrible ATM however virtually all the tries we score get checked by the TMO

As good France were last night their were at least two tries that had very suspect passes that seemingly weren't checked

Unconscious bias does exist no matter how well trained and impartial a person is. Unfortunately the English are hated by most of the rugby world

I can be guilty of this myself but it does feel a bit cringe when everyone fellates the unlucky underdog side who played "superbly", even though they ultimately just lost to.... Us. I dunno, it just feels a bit empty and you could argue patronising
Samoa were robbed blind, two disallowed tries on the thinnest of TMO decissions a yellow that went on fo nearly 15 minutes and penalty after penalty against them......as a game it was a sick joke, as a sporting contest it was a tragedy. England should be ashamed of the win.

Samoa presumably played so open because they were chasing a BP to keep their tiny chances alive. I think they should be kicking themselves for not being more expansive in earlier pool matches.

Its hard to imagine a ref remotely caring about the outcome of this match, but Brace seemed to ref the second half quite differently to the first.

Great game to watch, not our best performance but good to see we can finds ways to win rather than find ways to lose as was the case prior to the World Cup.I thought Danny Care played well when he came on.great tackle late on.smith seemed lively when he came on although he did miss a few tackles(the one leading to the danny care tackle stands out)but some of that was down to positioning at full back.Thought steward was decent too.A game like that is a great learning curve for some of the younger players which is what some people on this forum have been calling out for.looking forward to the Fiji game now.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

How come the TMO missed so many English offences?
Rugby has so many rules, that are so technical, that close inspection of the action, will show offences all over the park........it is a cheats charter ....any team can be reffed out iof a game, just by zealously applying the rules to only one side and letting the other side off scott free....this game was a perfect example .

1. Was 100% a double movement

2. LRZ who is so much faster than Radrada was covering

3. Although there is an argument to be made for not getting a 2nd yellow, mostly because Wales got a yellow for number of pens I agree Wales probably should've got another yellow late on

4. Had Semi caught a bouncing ball, had he beaten LRZ to the corner, and had Lomani kicked from the corner (no chance lol) Fiji would have 100% stolen that game from under Wales nose.

I will say, at 70 mins 18 points down no team has put themself in a position to win lol

Noones sayingbthere is a WR conspiracy, I think modern day refs are just weak, and there is evidence that if refs oversee tier 1 shock defeats they are pressured out of the game.

England are up by 1, 78 mins in, 30 mins from their own line and Chessum puts himself on the wrong side of a ruck. Samoa get nothing from it, EVERY tier 1 team in that position gets that penalty to have a shot at winning the game.

That's the point I'm trying to make

********. Samoa got away with just as much as you're claiming England did.
