RWC: Scotland - Georgia (14-09-2011, 19:30)

Can see Georgia winning this one.

Honestly, I tell you what.

Since the Romania game, I have woken up every night after having a nightmare which consists of either us getting pummeled by 50 points, being pipped at the death after leading the whole game, or going out on a whimper.

Cannae mind the last time I had dreams so bad that I woke up, worst f*cking part is seeing/ listening to Naas Botha saying "Poor, poor Scotland" over and over.

At least you can go to sleep. some of us aren't even able to do that

Warm milk does wonders for me :)

Wondering how long Jacobsen will last for? 25-40 minutes? Cross on for 25 more and Dickinson to see out the remainder :p

If Scotland lose it will be a close affair. Don't tell me why but I have a feeling that the upset will be this and probably one of Wales vs. Samoa / Fiji.

Georgia can win this, I'm really looking forward to this game, could this be Dan "the Guitar Man" Parks last stand in the Scotland jersey?

Just saw the match schedule, Georgia play England 4 days after this match?! That is just plain stupid! You need a minimum of 48 hours to recover that leaves them a day of 'being fit' (cause they won't anyone try playing massive games with so little time in between will tell you that, you are not anywhere near a 100%) just plain stupid. Atleast NZ have a nice and long break inbetween every match.....

Most of the top seeded teams enjoy a beneficial draw. Have to feel sorry for the 'minnows' when they get a crap draw on top of already being up against it. Same with Samoa, they have to play Wales on the weekend after playing Namibia on Wednesday.

*Ahem*

Scotland's second match in 4 days as well, thought I'd put it out their so we can get a share of the pity as well :D

Begging for pity is just pathetic...:D

For it to be begging, I need to be asking ;)

And its a feasible excuse if we lose :p

A question that has been bugging me lately.

I don't have any doubts that of the 3 Tier 1 nations in our group, that Scotland has the least strong squad (in terms of technical and physical ability), and thus Georgia and Romania will target us for an upset. However, does no one find it strange that a team that has beaten South Africa and Australia in their last outings (and lead SA 10-0 in the prior match), and overall has a record of 7-5 against top southern hemisphere competition in the last 4 years, better than any other home union I think, is seen as the most 'upsettable' team?

Take away the New Zealand games and that ratio looks frikken aawesome

if somebody thinks Scotland will have easy ride over Georgia...

Then you lie to yourself

I don't think anyone is suggesting it's going to be an easy ride. In fact I think it's all very much the opposite....
I do have faith however that Scotland have the ability and desire to defeat a team such as Georgia who will at this point be gearing themselves up for an upset and who will be looking to put in the performance of their careers.... But then I am bias of course...

My one main worry though is Parks playing. I'm really just not a fan, and if the high winds are going to continue to be an issue then is his kicking game even going to be of any use?

Aye, it will be.

To the Georgians of course. Come on Parks, do something useful (for us) this year please.

Otherwise I will keep the promise I made to myself in 2007 to kick your c*** in at first available opportunity.

I think this will be one of the heaviest and tensed match of this RWC

I do not expect beautiful and numerous tries in this match

Instead there will be kicks, mauls, scrums averaging more than hand-play

match will be very interesting not only for Scotch and Georgian fans

Aye, and our game plan should be focused on not letting the game turn into an arm wrestle, if it does, we will lose, simple as that.

Keep the ball away from the Georgian forwards, spread it out wide and make sure that whenever we have a scrum advantage, or they do, that we try as hard as possible to make sure the ref doesn't play it, if it means conceding ground, do so.

Get to watch this in Modern Studies ( Modern studies is also big rugby fan and Director of Rugby of school). We should have enough to win this but lets face it's Scotland and we never do it the easy way and I can see a really tight game with us maybe just edging it by a few points due to Georgia tiring and us stepping up the tempo much like we did against the Romanians. Come on Scotland.

Cmon Georgia! Got money on you!

Edit:

Also, saw on the NZ news, they said Rugby is the National sport of Georgia?

Thought it was soccer..

Didn't someone shine a light on this and noticed it's beating up Russians? ;)

I'm hoping Georgia will win this. The more minnow nations that can score an upset, the better, as an expanded top-level will be nothing but good for the sport. (Even though I wouldn't really call a Georgian victory here an upset).

I agree after all these discussions its almost like scot victory would be the real upset .... I can't say i really like that
