RWC: Ireland - Italy (02-10-2011, 20:30)

Nah, we should just keep doing what we're doing. Our two best results this year(Aus and Eng) were with Sexton starting and O'Gara finishing the game off. For all of O'Gara's ability with the boot, his defense is still too much of a liability at this level. Plus I read somewhere that statistically speaking, Ireland score more tries with Sexton at the helm.

you needed to read to figure that out?:p

Right now I think DK could just flip a coin and pick but it's all very delicate I's give sexton this one but if it doesn't go well ROG for the knock outs could be on.

I generally think that Sexton should start but as I said earlier in this thread, the most effective tactic for this match involves Rog.

See earlier post.

It's a win-win situation.
Sexton starts then we will attack and I'd be confident we can get tries and well Sexton probably better defensively. ROG will then come on to close it out.
ROG starts then we start the form 10 and well 3pointers will be more assured.

Either way I not worried about 10.

Can someone explain to me why Ireland should easily win knowing that Ireland beat Italy in March only because of a missed drop goal ? I really had big understanding problems...

How can you be expected to win any match easily in such a case having lost to Italy in fact...

There was once a wis military strategist who said "before you attack look to your own defenses."

Noone said it'd be easy and well I know this is probably irrelevant but:
- Italy were at home that day and had alot better form while we had worst form.

It was the first game of the season and we were in Rome. That being said, the Italians are no mugs either.

True Italy are no mugs and this will be a battle.

Just on the team news it's being rumoured Murray and ROG will start.

Umm, I was wondering if choice of outhalf would dictate scrumhalf.

Not much diffrence between himself and Reddan really.

You wake up bloody early!

I wanna know how Trimble has wronged Kidney!

In fairness, Trimble gets to sit down for the match. There's very few people who get a jersey AND get to sit down for most of the match.

Position of privilege if you ask me.

How has Trimble been wronged like Earls is going well, Bowe is good for a try and Kearney on form.

As for ROG and Murray ahead of Sexton and Reddan I think it like for like and won't weaken the team

I wanna know how Trimble has wronged Kidney!

He should probably be ahead of Earls, but if it's a 50-50 call Kidney will always pick Earls ahead of Trimble. The team just doesn't look as good without Sexton at the 10 spot in my opinion. I hope this doesn't destroy his confidence.

Looking forward to this game, a bit of white pudding and an Irish victory will be a great start to sunday.
